JS Online:Editorial: There is a middle ground

Here we go again. The NRA's convention is in Milwaukee. The local news has an op-ed piece on "reasonable gun control," and couches it in phrases of civility and good-natured "can't we all just get along" rhetoric. Then they spoil their "reasonable" approach with an insipid statement like this:
What we do have a hard time buying is that military-style, semiautomatic weapons are essential to the right to hunt. Yet in backing a federal ban on such weapons, we find ourselves accused of trying to outlaw all guns. These rapid-fire weapons are a favorite of organized gangs and mass killers and a peril to law officers. So as we see it, the NRA's successful lobbying to lift that ban aids the bad guys.
One more time: the Second Amendment to the Constitution does not guarantee a right to hunt. It guarantees a right to keep and bear arms. It's real simple. As for those dastardly military-style semi-automatic weapons, keep your stinkin' hands off mine. I don't need a reason for having one. I have a right to have one. You don't have a right to take it away. End of debate.

Now go enforce the laws we already have too many of.

Do You Know What This Picture Is?

A friend of mine sent me this email. I found very interesting. I looked it up on snopes and confirmed that it is true. This is just sickening.

The email pretty much says it all.

I thought this might just interest some of y'all.. I think it's noteworthy!
Obviously, it's a picture in a cemetery. What cemetery and whose grave? Yes, it's sadly the grave of Casey Sheehan. After two years, and a DOD payment of $250,000 life insurance to the "Peace Mom", she has not had the time or bothered to have a headstone placed on this young hero's grave, and she doesn't even have to pay for one. The DOD will provide one: "The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a government headstone or marker for the grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world. For all deaths occurring before September 11, 2001, the VA may provide a headstone or marker only for graves that are not marked with a private headstone. Flat markers in granite, marble, and bronze and upright headstones in granite and marble are available. The style chosen must be consistent with existing monuments at the place of burial. Niche markers are also available to mark columbaria used for internment of cremated remains."
She can find time to protest on at least 3 continents, get arrested various times, go on vacation in Hawaii, have photo ops with the Marxists in Venezuela but can't seem to find the time to properly mark her son's grave.
oh yea - Cindy Sheehan recently treated herself to a brand new Volkswagen Beetle convertible. She still can't be bothered to order a grave marker for her son.

Pink Taco Restaurant Name Causes Stir

Nearly half a dozen people in the upscale city recently expressed their objection to the name, claiming it's a derogatory slang term for a portion of the female anatomy.
These are the same people who objected to some restaurants and other businesses in the past that included "The Bearded Clam", " We Have Crabs", "The Red Snapper", "Bunghole Liquors", "The Hot Spot", "The Promised Land", "Meat Pockets", "The Finger Hut", "Joe's Crab Shack", and "Jack in the Box".
Restaurant spokeswoman Lisa Perez said the company's name comes from one of its menu items.
I am sure the place will be a big hit with the lesbian community. They love to eat out.

New addition to the Catfish Family

Two months ago, I had to put my 7 year old hunting buddy, the most wonderful dog I've ever owned, down. She had bone cancer and I wasn't about to put her through months of chemo and amputation - she was too good of a dog to have to deal with that.

Today, we have a new pup to fill some very big shoes. As it stands now, she's scoring high on cuteness factor. Time will tell on the rest, but we're sure going to give it a good shot.

Here's a couple of gratuitous puppy pics.

I will, of course, post updates as we get into the training program!

Florida alligators kill 3 women in a week

Omigosh. This is worse than the bird flu. It's a gator epidemic.

As a general rule, I tend to avoid vacation spots where the wildlife CAN EAT YOU.
"You just don't think of your daughter dying from an alligator,” Ms. Campbell's mother, Dawn Marie Yankeelov, told the newspaper.
To say that quote is obvious would be...well, too obvious.

However, this might help:
Gary Goodrich, Ms. Cooper's brother-in-law, told the newspaper that officials said her purse was found near the water and drugs may have played a factor.
Thank goodness for the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission:
Florida residents are warned not to swim in heavily vegetated areas, feed wildlife or walk pets near the water, especially between dusk and dawn when gators are more active, Mr. Morse said.
Seems to me it's not the wildlife that needs conservation here...

Bears Eat Monkey in Dutch Zoo

Now, if you want to get my money, I expect something in return. Those Dutch have legal prostitution, legal drugs, and in the entertainment trifecta, monkey-eating bears. If they didn't talk so funny, I'd consider going there.

Wonder if it tasted like chicken...

Charlie's Angels

It's been awhile since we've done a dedicated 'gun post' and this is one that I've been contemplating for a while.

Today I'll talk about a pet peeve of mine when watching new (and sometimes experienced) shooters move. Largely, I blame it on Hollywood, but there's some blame to go around to the gun rags as well - most of which may know a lot about guns, but not much about shooting. I love seeing a picture of some gun rag author talking about how controllable the recoil is on a given pistol, and the picture shows the gun in full recoil with the muzzle pointed straight up in the air, but I digress.

Today we will discuss about something that we have affectionately termed "Charlie's Angels". Charlie's Angels is where you move from point A to point B with the gun pointed straight up in the air, ala the old Charlie's Angels posters. It looks something like this:

Inevitably, the same people that do this also have their trigger finger wrapped squarely around the trigger, just like the Hollywood movie heroes.

I'll be blunt. Don't do this. There are several reasons.

1. The threat, or the target, will practically never be above your head. They are going to be somewhere in front of you, if you are paying attention. By pointing the gun in the air, you are wasting valuable time that you do not have to waste in either a gunfight or in a match. It's a bad plan.
2. What IS likely to be above you are people you care about if you are in an office building, or a home with 2 stories. If you have an AD with the gun pointed above your head, that's a bad thing if you're at an office or home environment, not to mention outdoors in an urban setting like where our range is. Gravity being what it is, the round will HAVE to land somewhere, and Mr. Murphy says it will hit something you'd rather it not hit. It's a bad plan.
3. If you happen to trip and fall while moving from point A to point B, and your gun is pointed up, it's awfully easy to wind up pointing the gun at your own head and having an AD while you're trying to catch yourself on the way down. If you trip and fall into a barricade, the gun will hit you in the head or face. It's a bad plan.
4. If a bad guy happens upon you with your gun pointed at the ceiling, it's a simple matter of physics and control to push the pistol into your face, keeping the barrel pointed up, while his other hand is either shooting you, cutting you, or hitting you in your now unprotected belly. It's a bad plan.

The gun is either in the holster, or it's pointed downrange. Period. This is assuming that you, as a responsible shooter, have absolute control over your trigger finger. If you don't, then you don't need to be carrying a gun. I cannot tell you how many times authors on this blog have slipped, tripped, or just fell on their own accord (JR) while running with a gun in their hand and have not had an AD.

Here's a better example of a low ready, or ready gun (whatever you want to call it) that will serve you much better than Charlie's Angels:

If I need to from this position, I can take the shot. I am also in very little danger of having my gun taken away from me or controlled by an opponent. If I am unfortunate enough to slip, fall, or have an AD, the round will have very little chance of striking me. If you're moving more than 3-4 steps, you can take your weak hand off the gun and haul ass - but your strong hand and the gun will stay essentially in the same position you see here.

If you're pointing the gun up when you move, I really hope you stop doing it. And you damn sure won't be doing it when I'm the Safety Officer or Match Director. If you want to shoot yourself, do it on your own time.

Claude Lelouch: Rendezvous

This is amazing. I can't believe in all my years, that I am just now seeing this. The video is 10 minutes long and worth watching all the way through. The driving is fantastic, but hearing the Ferrari's V12 sing is even better.
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit. The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.
Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

A Tennessee teacher is being held without bail after she allegedly sent a strip-tease video to her former student.

Ariz. Posse to Round Up Illegal Immigrants

Now this is what I call a pretty smart move. Since it's quite obvious the Federal government is going to do nothing to stop the flood of illegal immigrants into our country, the State of Arizona passed a law making it illegal to smuggle humans across the border.

The law made human smuggling a state crime in Arizona - it was already a federal crime - allowing local law enforcement agencies to arrest suspected smugglers. It was meant to crack down on smugglers, but under a disputed interpretation, County Attorney Andrew Thomas argues the law can be applied to the smuggled immigrants themselves.

Once again, Sheriff Joe Arpaio is making headlines:

"I'm going to catch as many as I can and throw them in my jail," said Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "And the jails are not that nice."

Why is it that a little Sheriff out in the desert gets it, but the fat cats of both parties in Washington don't?

As you would expect, some lousy, flea bit, slip and fall lawyer has threatened suit against the Sheriff, but the Sheriff's not backing down:

"I get sued when I go to the toilet. You think I'm worried about it?" he said. "If they think I'm going to slow down because of these threats, I've got news for them - I'm not going to slow down. I'll do more of it."

The whining is endless, with illegal - no - I mean, undocumented immigrant's rights groups stating that "every act like this contributes to the angst and anger and desperation in our community...." waaah waaaah waaaaaah. I suppose that our angst and anger that the horde of illegals crossing into our country creates doesn't mean anything, right?

I really don't give a shit, if it hurts the feelings of the illegal immigrant community and fortunately for the citizens of Maricopa County in Arizona, neither does the Sheriff. Now if only we could get something like this going here in Texas....

Man charged in dildo assault

A 37-year-old man remained in police custody Tuesday, charged with a violent assault against his former girlfriend. He has testified that his only weapon was a dildo.
"It lasted 10 to 15 minutes, max," he told the court. "I didn't hit her with anything other than a dildo."
He also suggested the woman may have had bruises from before the assault. "She doesn't tolerate much because of anorexia."

It's Bush's Fault!

Wall Street barreled higher Friday, sending the Dow Jones industrials up 138 points to a new six-year high
Oh, wait. That's good when the stock market goes up, isn't it?
The Dow rose 138.88, or 1.21 percent, to 11,577.74, its best showing since the Dow reached its all-time high of 11,722.98 on Jan. 14, 2000.
I guess terms like "best showing" and "all-time high" are good, right?

I'm sure there's a reason why this is due to the Democrats, but they're too busy blaming the Administration for everything that's wrong in the world.

Ocho

Wilson has maintained his innocence since being charged in the crime.
What this news article doesn't talk about is the victim's family, the prosecutors, and the investigators on the case. They watched the execution, too, and talked about the incontrovertible evidence that led to this monster's conviction.
Jackie Wilson, 39, was condemned for taking Maggie Rhodes to a field on November 30, 1988, and raping and suffocating her. Wilson then drove over the girl's body.
Not one single tear was shed in that room. This guy apparently died a liar, still in denial of the crime he committed.
Wilson's DNA was found on the girl's body. His fingerprints were found on the apartment's broken bedroom window and Rhodes' hair was found in and on the underside of the car Wilson was driving.
The girl was 5 years old, taken from her bedroom in Arlington, TX.

There's one less monster in the world.

Video Shows Al-Zarqawi Fumbling With Rifle

Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, spokesman for the U.S. command, mocked al- Zarqawi as the previously unseen footage showed a smiling al-Qaida leader first firing single shots from a U.S.-made M-249 light machine gun. A frown creeps across al-Zarqawi's face as the weapon appears to jam. He looks at the rifle, confused, then summons another fighter.
I'd like to join in on the mockery, too. I watched the video. This hero of islam is nothing more than a paper tiger, and leaves the dirty work to slavish drones who've been brainwashed into executing innocent women and children.

And they're smart, too:
His fellow fighters and associates appear similarly inept in the newly released footage. One reaches out to grab a just-fired weapon by the barrel, apparently unaware that it would burn his hand. The camera quickly pans to the ground and then away.
Nice New Balance shoes and pickup truck, Al. Watch the fun for yourself.

More insanity

You have to wonder just what the hell is wrong with 3 jurors on the Moussaui trial. I couldn't give a rat's ass whether or not his father beat him, whether or not he was the runt in school and everyone made fun of him and ruined his self esteem. That is not an excuse for being a terrorist thug. Period.

This scumbag needs to be taken to the back of the barn, shot, and then thrown to the pigs as a lesson to the rest of his ilk.

But instead, because of 3 idiot jurors, the scumbag gets to live off our prison system for the rest of his life. Again, your tax dollars at work.

Our system's failure to dole out justice in this case is sickening.

TxDOT

Whatever rocket scientist in TxDOT that decided it was a brilliant idea to shut down two left lanes of traffic tonight south of the Lake Lewisville Bridge, and two right lanes on the bridge itself needs to have a serious ass whipping.

It's probably the same dumbass who was responsible for the FUBAR'd overpass problem at 407 where it crosses I35E - the two opposing sides of the overpass were only a foot or two off center, and the whole project had to be started over from scratch.

Your tax dollars at work folks.

Another story you won't read in the MSM

Excellent read from the Marine Corps Times. Gee, I wonder why it hasn't been picked up by the New York Times??

For some reason, the image they described of Zarqawi cracked me up - black PJ's and New Balance running shoes. I guess that's because the little rat is really good at running and hiding?

It would appear that the guys at the tip of the spear respect Zarqawi as an adversary; they speak volumes of his leadership ability and his willingness to lead from the front. It is also interesting to note that they're focusing on Zarqawi and not Bin Laden. Makes sense to me. At least Zarqawi has the balls to show his mug on video, compared to Bin Laden. But hey, what could you expect from someone who targets innocent people going to work or on vacation?

At the end of the article, a key question is asked:

The U.S. knows of “high-tier” al-Qaida personnel in multiple European countries, he said. “They’re around the world ... The point is, does the U.S. have the resolve … to go conduct a unilateral operation to get these folks?”

Listening to the libbys whine and pander to our enemies, I really have to wonder. I know I have the resolve, as well as the bulk of people that I know. But I hang around gun toting, right minded individuals. Sadly, I know not everyone is like that.

GYLLENHAAL OFFENDS GULF WAR VETERANS

Here's a newsworthy item. Jake Gyllenhole, who played a Marine in the movie Jarhead, has gone and shot his mouth off. Quoth the cornhole cowboy:
"The US soldiers were sent to the desert for 122 days and they sat in the same tent and did nothing, except a little too much masturbating."
Typical Hollywood, confusing crappy movies with reality.

I don't reckon he'll be making the next USO tour.

OOPS! St. Pete Police taser one of their own

This is truly a great news story.
One cop was waving a golf club, acting as a threatening criminal.

Two officers in patrol cars nearby heard over the police radio, there was trouble in the area.

So from the time they heard the broadcast, to when they arrived, they thought they were dealing with a crazed suspect.

Bill Profitt, St. Petersburg Police Spokesman:
"They saw him make a threatening move with a golf club towards one of the officers. They issued a verbal warning, 'taser' he didn't respond. So they tasered him."
Safe to say, it's a good thing the cop who was in on the drill wasn't using a gun.

Also, according to the original story, there were 2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers there, doing a ride-along. Like that had anything to do with anything.

Amazing shot cited as self-defense

Click on the link above, and read the story. See anything wrong?
The officers ordered the man to drop the gun. Instead, police said, he squared up against them. 'The officers returned fire in response to that deadly threat,' Kimerer said.
Both officers, armed with Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handguns, fired. One fired four shots; the second, three shots.
One of those bullets ended up in the gunman's gun -- jammed into the cylinder of his revolver. The department released photos Wednesday showing the cracked brass of a bullet shoved out of the rear of one chamber.
Fire medics arrived but were unable to revive the man.
I'm going to have to assume, because the story doesn't actually say it, that the police struck and killed the gunman, too. Not one mention that they shot the perp, just a lot of fascination over the fact that they shot his stupid wheel gun.

Nice reporting. No, I mean really. They're being so nice in the news these days, you'd have a hard time recognizing that a bad guy was shot and killed for squaring off against 2 police officers. I suppose I shouldn't expect too much from a Seattle news source. Here's the first indication that something bad happened to the gunman:
Wednesday, the King County Medical Examiner's Office had yet to release the identity of the gunman and were still trying to notify his next of kin. Kimerer said the man turned 18 about a month ago.
I guess that at least one of the 7 rounds fired actually found their target. Incidentally, the gun wasn't the target.

I suppose the other interesting observation about this incident is the fact that in a deadly force confrontation, you focus on the threat. When you're aiming a gun, what are you looking at? The person holding it? Nope. In fact, a large number of gun-on-gun confrontations involve the gun being shot, because that's what the shooter's focused on.

Press corpse

This is not a spoof! Actual transcript of a member of our beloved press corpse whining and sniveling that the TV's are tuned in to Fox... H/T to Michelle Malkin.

What a pathetic example of the mindset of the people that are supposed to objectively report the news to us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q It's come to my attention that there's been requests -- this is a serious question -- to turn these TVs onto a station other than Fox, and that those have been denied. My question would be, is there a White House policy that all government TVs have to be tuned to Fox?
MR. McCLELLAN: Never heard of any such thing. My TVs are on fourdifferent channels at all times.
Q Because you have four different TVs. But every time I've ever been --
MR. McCLELLAN: Every TV in the White House also has channels every --has a split screen, where they can --
Q Well, they always seem to be tuned to Fox, and there's been requests,and these are paid for by taxpayer dollars. And my understanding is thatyou guys have to watch Fox on Air Force One. Is that true?
MR. McCLELLAN: First time I've ever heard of it. First time you'vebrought it to my attention, meaning the first time the press corps hasbrought it to my attention. In fact, I've watched other channels on here.
Q There's one --
MR. McCLELLAN: Hang on, Jim, come on. I've watched other channels onhere, so I don't know where you're hearing that. But it's the first timeanyone in the press has raised that question with me.
Q You've watched other channels other than Fox?
MR. McCLELLAN: On here, yes, sure.
Q I've never seen -- they're always turned to Fox, which a lot of peopleconsider a Republican-leaning network.
Q Scott, is it one -- on the airplane, is it one for all? I mean, ifit's tuned for Fox here, is it Fox everywhere?
MR. McCLELLAN: I think that certain areas may be interconnected, butI'll have to double-check which.
Q Is yours off, wherever you are?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, the conference room, or the senior staff office,the staff office, they're different TVs, and you can switch to differentchannels. I'm not sure if some of these in the back are connected tosome of the others that are watching right here, right now. It doesn'tlook like it to me. I've never known anyone that's raised a complaintabout a request from back here to watch a different channel.
Q I'm officially raising it and officially complaining about it.
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, I'm going to go see if we can change the channelfor you. Have you called up?
Q I was the Fox victim, and I was told -- the quote was, "No," when Iasked for CNN.
MR. McCLELLAN: I don't know who you talked to, so -- it didn't come tomy attention. You don't know who you talked to either?
Q Well, the magic people at the other end off the phone.
MR. McCLELLAN: The magic people at the other end of the phone. Well,I'll see if this cabin is --
Q I was told, "We don't watch CNN here, you can only watch Fox."
MR. McCLELLAN: As I said, it's hard to respond to something when I don'tknow who it is you talked to.
Q I used the phone back here.
MR. McCLELLAN: I find this all quite amusing, to tell you the truth. Imean, there are a lot of people on this plane that do watch that channel.
Q I've never been told, no. They're such nice guys up there.
MR. McCLELLAN: First time you brought it to my attention. I'll go seewhat we can do on it.
* * * * *
MR. McCLELLAN: We just called up. They're going to be changing it, atyour all's request, to the channel that you requested, which is CNN --from the press corps.
Q Thanks, Scott.
High gas prices propel a new 'moped madness'
"This [moped resurgence] is a reflection of a deeper generational shift going on," says Neil Howe, a cultural historian and coauthor of "Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation." "The idea of a big, bad, dangerous gas-guzzling machine is not the millennial style. They prefer something that is not only socially responsible in a big sense, but also in a little sense: It makes less noise, and it's less likely to get them into an accident."
The hardest thing about riding a moped is telling your Dad you are gay. Grow a set and go buy a real motorcycle.
Clinton nearly sees rocket's red glare
Clinton was preparing to hit his second shot on the fifth hole at Las Vegas Country Club on Saturday when Secret Service agents halted a birthday party fireworks event. It's a birthday that Savanna Muirhead, the 5-year-old daughter of 28-year-old porn star Sophia Rossi, won't forget. Savanna was preparing to launch a remote control 18-inch rocket when Clinton's bodyguards "came out of nowhere" and had the launch scrubbed.
Rossi, a busty blonde who grew up in Las Vegas, is one of the stars in Jenna Jameson's Club Jenna lineup. "I'm just disappointed I didn't get a photo with him," said Rossi.
"If we'd known it was Bill Clinton, we would have invited him to the party," said McKelvey.
I'm sure he would have considered it his duty to attend.
That isn't even the funniest part of the story.
An armed man hijacked a Krispy Kreme delivery truck and led police on a chase across the city and into a shopping center, where officers shot and killed him.
Never get between the police and their doughnuts. You will be terminated with extreme prejudice.
Costner exposed as actor behind sex act claim
The Hollywood star was accused of taking off his towel during the massage at The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, Fife, in October 2004, exposing himself and then performing a sex act.
Last month, the Scottish masseuse told the tribunal in Dundee that she was mortified" when Costner removed his massage towel before engaging in a sex act.
"It was disgusting and, even though he was a Hollywood superstar, I couldn’t believe he thought he could get away with something like that," she said.
I've heard of a massage with a happy ending, but I've never heard of somebody providing their own happy ending.
MLB: Oakland 3, Texas 2
Monday wasn't the best night ever for Dallas-area sports teams. The Stars came from behind, only to lose 5-4, and the Rangers lost, 3-2.
The cool part is that I was at the Ranger game Monday night. EDS sprung for a luxury suite on the lower deck, directly behind home plate.
Beer, barbecue, chips, dips, veggies...even peach cobbler. Air-conditioned comfort, and 2 rows of seats outside the suite, out on the balcony. Private bathrooms, and your own private suite steward.
I could get used to that sort of treatment.
PS: nanny-nanny boo-boo.
San Jacinto Day
Today we celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. Yet the silence we celebrate in continues to boggle my mind. We loudly celebrate Cinco de Mayo - the 5th of May - where a Mexican army defeated an imperialistic venture of Napoleon III on May 5th, 1862.
The United States was too preoccupied with its own Civil War to react to a French attempt to take over Mexico, and a smaller Mexican army defeated a much larger French army, ending Napoleon III's venture before it got out of hand. In many ways, we should be thankful that Mexico defeated the French. I mean, after all, could you imagine having a French state as a neighbor? It's bad enough to have Quebec so close to American shores!
But still - we celebrate with sales, parties, and lots of drinking the 5th of May. Why is it that April 21st passes in such silence? The 18 minute Battle of San Jacinto was, without much exaggeration, one of the most important battles in the history of the United States. By defeating the Mexican army and capturing Generalissimo Santa Anna, Sam Houston and his ragged volunteers created the Texas Republic, which lasted until annexation by the United States in 1846.
Shortly after annexation, the Mexican War took place (1846-1848) and ended with the United States in control of the vast majority of what is today the American West. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, and parts of Colorado entered the Union and the United States was well on its way to becoming an emerging world power.
So tonight when you're out to dinner or out with your friends, drink a little toast to Sam Houston and the Texicans that allowed us here in Texas to live in the greatest state in the Union.
Cheers!!
May Day
Perhaps you've started to catch rumors of the big "nada gringos" day scheduled for May 1. What we're being told is that this has been organized by immigrant's rights groups in California or even, in the case of this article, " high school students have been the most active so far in organizing rallies and educating groups on the proposed changes to immigration laws."
However, do a little digging and you find that the real push behind this event is none other than the IWW. As in, the Industrial Workers of the World. An organization that's been around for awhile, and you could say was synonymous with communism and socialism. I'm sure those of you with half a brain recall that May 1 is otherwise known as May Day in the old Soviet Union. I'm sure it's just a fickle coincidence that this "walk out" is scheduled on the same day here in the US.
In their mind, they want to go back to a system that has never worked under any circumstance in any part of the world, at any time in the history of the world. Capitalism is the most evil thing that ever existed and all of the world's evils can be traced directly to capitalism and therefore the United States.
I can tell. Some of you are saying "come on Catfish, no one is that stupid any more. This is the 21st century!!"
Ok dear readers, don't take my word for it. Read the mission of the IWW for yourself. For those of you too lazy to check out the link, here's a little taste:
Instead of the conservative motto, "A fair day's wage for a fair day's work," we must inscribe on our banner the revolutionary watchword, "Abolition of the wage system."
It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with
capitalism. The army of production must be organized, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old.
Yeah. Freakin' commies. Just when you thought all we had to worry about was crazy jihadists and greenies, the commies are sticking their ugly, unwashed, unshaven, long haired, maggot infested, berkenstock wearing mugs back into our daily lives.
Anyone who thinks the upcoming "nada gringo" event on May 1 is about immigrant rights - how does it feel to be a pawn of the communista?
Shooting Stars And The Clash In The Heavens
The Way to Truth is a website that we spotted on the way to Waco the other day (or one just like it, anyway. I Googled "truth about islam" to find this jewel), and thought I'd see how enlightening it was. Here's a direct quote from the page linked to above:
Whether they might label me as unscientific or a skeptic, it is not more reasonable, in my opinion, than trying to find a political purpose behind those philosophies to attribute to those people who have made gigantic advances in science and technology such theories as biological "evolution" and that the Western brain is apt, because of its biological composition, for science while the Eastern brain for romanticism and the Negro brain for jazz and athleticism.
There's your "enlightenment," kids. I almost stopped reading after that. The writer of this article is as backward, ignorant, and reprobate as that last sentence would indicate. It appears that Koranic morality is subjective and flexible. In other words, it lacks moral absolutes ("right" vs. "wrong" are open to interpretation, depending on circumstances):
Do not kill anyone which God has forbidden, except for just cause. al-Isra’
Unfortunately, "just cause" seems to be based on an individual's interpretation of morality:
There is in principle nothing, other than his free choice, to dictate his fate.
Sorry, but that's creepy enough for a government to subscribe to without an entire religious philosophy subscribing to it. No wonder they have no problems justifying the murder of innocent people. Savages.
Qur'an 47:4
Yep. It's the religion of peace folks. But only if you are a member of that religion.
Gingrich warns Republicans Americans want change
The Republican Party is in serious danger of losing political ground in November elections if it does not enact reforms that eliminate waste and hold the federal bureaucracy to higher standards, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Sunday.
The former representative from Georgia said the "debacle" over measures to strengthen U.S. borders and create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants "was one more piece of the puzzle" for many voters who have lost faith in Republican leadership.
With the federal budget deficit at record levels, Gingrich said Americans are losing patience with "pork," the discretionary spending earmarked to benefit local political constituencies.
"We were sent here to reform Washington, not to be co-opted by Washington," he said.
Amen, brother.
Road Trips & Elements
As you may have seen from The Girl's previous post, my car is a Honda Element, irreverently referred to as "the Toaster."
I'll have you know the Honda Element is a very fine vehicle, and is particularly suited to my lifestyle. Namely, I'm a slovenly slob when it comes to car care. It's got plastic floorboards, stain-proof seats, and even plastic quarter-panels. In short, it's a man's dream car. It's even been vomit-tested by a 14-year-old cheerleader (another story, and don't get all pervy on that).
No, it's not the most aerodynamic vehicle ever built, but it's got a 270-watt, 7-speaker sound system that makes my XM radio the best thing ever. It's got copious space for 4, and a ridiculous amount of headroom. It carries all our shooting gear, and leaves plenty of legroom. In short, it's an awesome road trip car, and has performed very admirably for well over 50K miles.
On the way back from Waco, we stopped somewhere around Waxahachie to fuel up, and pulled up next to another Honda Element, piloted by some teen (maybe post-teen - I'm not getting any younger, and they all look the same to me) guys. They were driving - *sigh* - "Dad's" Sunset Orange Pearl (SOP in Element circles) Element, and the battery had apparently croaked. It looked like they'd been there a while, too sheepish to ask anyone else to give them a jump. When we pulled up, they ran straight over, and asked if I'd help. They didn't even have cables - the kid went inside to buy them. Of course we helped, and sent them on their merry way. Just for the sake of this blog, we took this pic. Not much point to this whole post, just thought I'd share.
A little perspective
VDH hits the nail on the head. Again. Read it all.
I myself recently returned home to California, without incident, from a visit to Iraq’s notorious Sunni Triangle. While I was gone, a drug-addicted criminal with a long list of convictions broke into our kitchen at 4 a.m., was surprised by my wife and daughter, and fled with our credit cards, cash, keys, and cell phones.
Sometimes I wonder who really was safer that week.
15 April 2006
I hate it when my "Girl" shows...
When I don't want it to, that is.
This was a gorgeous day here in Texas, perfect weather for shooting. Catfish, JR and I met up in the parking lot at JR's office for the road trip down to Waco in the toaster. To my surprise, Catfish was already sitting in the parking lot when I got there, so I parked next to him, got out and started getting my gear together. JR pulled in a minute later, we loaded up and hit the road.
The match was great, about 55 shooters showed up, lots of friends were there to make it even more enjoyable, and we put some serious hurting on everyone in our respective divisions. I must admit I was feeling pretty good about myself - finished 1st in my class, and about 12th overall. Not too shabby for anyone, much less a small glimmer of estrogen surrounded by oodles of testosterone. We stopped on the way back for food and drink, then made our way back to Dallas.
We rounded the corner to JR's office and all three of us did a double-take. Catfish's car was there, but mine wasn't next to it anymore. It was about 100 feet away from where I left it, facing the opposite way, sitting in the middle of the lot. First thing I thought of was how the hell did Catfish get my keys and move my car when I wasn't looking this morning?? Next, I thought about the conversation we had this morning about ghosts, apparitions and such. Hmm. Well, turns out that when I got out this morning I didn't put my car in gear OR set the parking brake. So with the high winds today, my poor little car was rolling around the lot all by itself. Luckily it missed everything in the lot except the concrete base of a light pole which it apparently backed in to before rolling forward to a stop on a speed bump.
Here is Catfish standing where my car used to be, inspecting his own ride:
This is where my car ended up (yeah, it's the blue one waaaaaay off in the distance):
The worst part of it is that I will never, ever live it down, nor will my friends ever let me forget it. First thing JR said was "get the camera, we've got to blog this!" Hey, at least it wasn't a ghost.
The enemy we face
In illuminating testimony yesterday, the thug Zacarias Moussaoui took to the stand. This punk is showing us all what the mindset is of the terrorist thugs we battle - but is anyone listening?
"Moussaoui quoted from the Koran which he said called on Muslims to fight for supremacy for Allah. He said that Islam taught that "we have to be the superpower, we have to be above you".
and
"I'm glad there was pain, and I wish there will be more pain," Moussaoui said. "The children in Palestine and in Chechnya will have pain. I want you to share their pain."
and
"When he left court after the judge and jury, he yelled: "God curse America. We will win. It's just a question of time."
He also proved that at their heart, all the terrorists are cowards. Rather than face death and his martyrdom like a man, he groveled like the chicken shit he is.
"...Moussaoui espoused beliefs that simply seemed bizarre. He insisted that President Bush would free him from prison some time before his term ends in 2009, perhaps as part of a prisoner exchange. "
In other words, please don't kill me! I can be useful!
Moussaoui's trial is winding down at the same time a new poll is released stating that us poor ignorant Americans don't trust Islam or Islamic countries. The opening sentencece of course has to chastise us, stating:
"Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable."
As if once we learned more about the religion of peace we'd have a more favorable perception of it? Yeah, right. The last time I checked, people were still being slaughtered at the behest of the religion of peace all over the world. And not content to slaughter the infidel, they're also slaughtering each other. And somehow, they all seem to find justification for the slaughter of innocents in the Koran.
You would think the rocket scientists at CAIR would be all over this - with press releases and op-eds attempting to stem the tide of anti-Islamic sentiment. You'd think they'd be out separating themselves as far away from thugs like Moussaoui as possible. However, if you surf over to their website, about all they seem concerned about is how they are being picked on by all the barbarians.
Kinda makes you wonder, don't it?
End of the line?
I have to tell you. I’m getting really concerned with this year’s coming elections. In my opinion it’s looking more and more like we’re going to shrink the margin the Republicans have in the House, and potentially lose the majority in the Senate.
And it’s not because of anything the Democrats are doing.
No, it’s because the Republicans that I sent to Washington D.C. are no more Republicans than Hillary Clinton is.
For example:
- Immigration reform. What a joke. From all appearances, the House and Senate are going to pass a bill soon that rewards illegal activity, creates a border as porous as a piece of Swiss cheese, and does nothing to protect our culture from a rapidly rising tide of non-assimilating immigrants. One of Texas’ ‘Honorable’ Senators, Kay Bailey Hutchinson is a perfect example of the spineless Washington elite. Up for re-election this year, would you like to take a guess at what her stance is on illegal immigration? If you go to her
web page and check out “SENATOR HUTCHISONON THE ISSUES”, you’ll see that she cares strongly enough about immigration reform to have it listed 12th of 18 issues being debated. 1st and 2nd issues are Hurricane Relief! And her thoughts? Can you spell amnesty? In her words:
“…that we need a guest worker permit program that would allow people to come into our country legally to work and earn a living for their families, contribute to the economy of the United States, and perhaps become citizens, if they decide to, or not become citizens if they wish to remain citizens of their home country.”
Yes, you read right. Perhaps become citizens. So, you want to come to the United States and work and send everything you make back to whoever you want wherever you came from? Come on in. And don’t worry about us teaching you English or learning what it means to be an American. We wouldn’t want to offend you, after all.
Texas’ other Senator, John Cornyn is only marginally better - but then hey - he’s not up for re-election this year. Both Senators spend an inordinate amount of time complaining that they, the MAJORITY, cannot get anything done in the Senate. To me, that is a serious knock on the Senate leadership in Bill Frist; that he cannot get the Republicans in the Senate to toe the line and do the right thing. It’s disgusting to have to listen to the pandering of Chucky Schmucky Schumer and Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid and the rest of the socialists in the Senate when all we should be hearing from them is that they’re upset because the Republicans in the Senate rammed a bill down their throats with their majority.
My solution is easy:
1. Build a wall at the most used border crossing points.
2. Utilize the same unmanned aerial reconnaissance aircraft that we are using with great success in Iraq to patrol the rest of the border.
3. Punish those who come across the border illegally.
4. Punish severely those companies or individuals who knowingly hire illegals - not only are they essentially creating an entrapped class of workers, but they are deflating the monetary value of the American workers who would otherwise be doing the jobs. If caught, there should be severe fines and jail time involved. Make the working environment disappear for the illegals and take their motivation away.
Yeah, I’ll go to the polls in November. But it looks like I’ll be holding my nose while I do it because frankly, the Republicans we have in office now are disgusting me with their worthlessness.
TCB, BABY!
I took ownership of my Open Gun this week. It was built by Virgil Tripp. It's a 9mm Major "Shorty". It's a 5" gun that was cut down to a Commander size gun so it retains the 5" recoil system for reliability, but points quickly. The comp is titanium and the gun came with all the goodies. Last weekend I got my Dillon 650 press all set up and loaded the ammunition. After I picked the gun up, I ran to the range and fired a quick 100 rounds. It ran flawlessly. It shoots soft and flat, and the dot never left the glass.
Now if I can find some time to shoot it, I'll be even happier.
DEA Agent Who Shot Self In Foot Sues U.S.
I think Dan originally sent me this video a year or so ago. If you haven't seen it, This DEA agent is standing in front of a class full of children during a drug education program. He pulls his gun out and clears it, or so he thought. He then confirms that the gun is empty by showing it to another officer. Then he claims boldly that he is holding a Glock .40 and is the only person qualified to use it. Then he shows how qualified he is by immediately shooting himself in the foot.
The accident was filmed by an audience member, and the tape, Paige claims, was turned over to the DEA. The drug agency subsequently "improperly, illegally, willfully and/or intentionally" allowed the tape to be disseminated. As a result, Paige--pictured above in a still from the video--has been the "target of jokes, derision, ridicule, and disparaging comments" directed at him in restaurants, grocery stores, and airports. Paige, who writes that he was "once regarded as one of the best undercover agents, if not the best, in the DEA," points to the clip's recent airing on popular television shows and via the Internet as the reason he can no longer work undercover. He also notes that he is no longer "permitted or able to give educational motivational speeches and presentations."
This dumbass deserves all the ridicule he gets. His Glock did not "Accidentally" go off. It was negligently discharged and he and everybody in the room as well as their loved ones should thank God every day that he was the only one injured by his negligence. If my son had been in that classroom when that gun went off, there would be hell to pay.
Iraq's Beauty Queen Resigns After Four Days
Miss Iraq shown here during the swimsuit portion of the pageant.
On April 9, the 23-year-old, who was the first Armenian Iraqi to win the Miss Iraq pageant, announced her resignation after receiving threats by a group of religious extremists who referred to her as "the queen of infidels" for participating in the contest.
Pageant organizers had hoped to pass the crown to the runner-up..... However, the second and third runners-up also withdrew from the competition for security concerns. They had not received specific threats.
The pageant organizers are hoping to send the winner to the Miss Universe pageant in an effort to promote a positive and modern image of Iraqi women.
The scariest article I've read in a while
Got this in the mail this morning. It's the spookiest thing I've read in a long, long time. It's got a little bit of sci fi, and a lot of history in it. The question to me is, are we going to learn from our history, or will we be doomed to repeat it?
As a sample:
I’d never heard the word and I told him so. “Then get off your ass and Google it,” said the Time Traveler, his one working eye glinting with something like fury. “Dhimmitude. You can also look up the word dhimmi, because that’s what two of your three grandchildren will be called. Dhimmis. Dhimmitude is the system of separate and subordinate laws and rules they will live under. Look up the word sharia while you’re Googling dhimmi, because that is the only law they will answer to as dhimmis, the only justice they can hope for . . . they and tens and hundreds of millions more now who are worried in your time about invisible abridgements of their ‘civil liberties’ by their ‘oppressive’ American and European democratically elected governments.”
It's damn spooky, and if you think it can't happen, you're an idiot. I strongly suggest you give it a read and then think about it for a bit.
Have you got the definitive derriere?
A scientist has figured out how to calculate the perfect female butt.
The magical figures are (S+C) x (B+F)/T = V. Though the equation looks rather complicated, it is, according to the scientist, simple.
Personally, I think he's pulling these figures out of his ass.
S is the overall shape or droopiness of the bottom, C represents how spherical the buttocks are, B measures muscular wobble or bounce, while F records the firmness.
V is the hip to waist ratio, or symmetry of the bottom, and T measures the skin texture and presence of cellulite.
I just love it when science is used for practical applications.
Bush 'is planning nuclear strikes on Iran's secret sites'
The Bush administration is planning to use nuclear weapons against Iran, to prevent it acquiring its own atomic warheads, claims an investigative writer with high-level Pentagon and intelligence contacts.
President George W Bush is said to be so alarmed by the threat of Iran's hard-line leader, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, that privately he refers to him as "the new Hitler", says Seymour Hersh, who broke the story of the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.
Feelings, nothing more than feelings....
I tend to think of myself as a fairly rational, non feeling individual. It's not that I don't have feelings, it's that I don't lead my life by what I'm feeling. It always cracks me up to hear someone tell me how they "feel" about something rather than what they "think".
Now, that being said, at Wednesday's match this week, I was ruled by my feelings on the first stage of the night. Allow me to explain....
The stage had you starting behind a barricade, and first engage a target at about 15-20 yards with 3 rounds. The target was "hiding" behind cover and you only had about 1/2 the upper torso to shoot at. After you engaged T1, as you moved forward to P2 (position 2) you engaged T2 on the move and when you reached P2, you engaged some more targets that were behind the barricade. At the buzzer, I engaged T1 with 2 rounds, and then milked the trigger (still getting used to the XD's trigger) and popped off 2 more rounds almost full auto. As I began moving to P2, it hit my conscious level from my bubbling subconscious that something didn't feel right about how the gun cycled and I looked down at the XD. Lo and behold, the gun was about 3/4 into battery, and I could clearly see the next round trying unsuccessfully to get into battery. Without slowing my movement a bit, I racked the slide, began to hit the brakes, set up for the shot on T2, took the 3 shots on T2 and finished the COF without incident.
Now, my point is not to talk about how great I am or to impress you with what happened. What made me extremely happy about that stage is that the whole incident took place without any serious thought process on my part. It was simply a feeling that I had that something was wrong. And the only reason I had that feeling is because at practically every opportunity that I have, I am either shooting, dry firing, or fondling a pistol.
THAT is why I train the gun so hard folks.
How hard are YOU training.
And oh yeah. You can never train enough.
Nude Britney Spears Giving Birth
A nude Britney Spears on a bearskin rug while giving birth to her firstborn marks a 'first' for Pro-Life.
The funny thing is, when I think about her getting pregnant I picture her in the same position, only she has an ashtray with a lit cigarette sitting on her back.
Pop-star Britney Spears is the "ideal" model for Pro-Life and the subject of a dedication at Capla Kesting Fine Art in Brooklyn's Williamsburg gallery district, in what is proclaimed the first Pro-Life monument to birth, in April.
Britney may be the ideal model for Pro-Life, but her husband K-Fed should be the poster boy for birth control.
The Perky one goes to CBS
Any doubt dear readers that the news media is only about entertainment?
The alleged move of the Perky One to take over the chair once held by Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather should come as no surprise - the nightly news is nothing more than an attempt to entertain us rather than a way to inform us.
Granted, Walter and Dan were never one to let the facts get in the way of their reporting, but at least their resumes were filled with actual journalistic endeavors, rather than a nice set of legs.
Benny is the subject of several of my stories, along with his perpetually-pregnant wife, Jolene. Both of them were meek as churchmice -- until Benny got into the tequila. Which he did about once a month. Once he was good and liquored up, Benny would get depressed and attempt to off himself, but the traditional ways were never good enough for Benny. He'd lay down in front of a farmer's hay bailer, or chain himself to train tracks which hadn't seen a train in a hundred years, or try to drown himself in two inches of water. Which would lead to one of us -- usually me -- arresting the five-foot-nothing Benny for Fooblic Intoxidation. Followed by Jolene attempting to defend her husband and going beserk. Considering that Jolene was, as noted, usually pregnant and about 4 foot 8 inches tall, we usually attempted to avoid putting Jolene in jail. Not always successfully.
U.N. Notes Quick Spread of Bird Flu
Bird flu resurfaced in Asia in 2003 and has killed at least 108 people. It remains hard for humans to catch, but health experts fear it will mutate into a form easily spread among people, potentially sparking a pandemic.
Oh. My. Gosh. At least 108 people world-wide since 2003?
No fear-mongering or panic-pandering here.
I must assume that the world-wide pandemic of the common cold will soon be recognized for the race-exterminating killer it is any day now. How many people died from that last year? Or from drowning in buckets? Or from lightning strikes? Caramba.
Range Report
Some of our regular readers may recall that I purchased a Springfield XD40 Tactical pistol a few weeks ago. I haven't had time until this past weekend to start shooting it and I thought a report was in order.
Shot a local IDPA match Saturday, and ran 200 rounds through the gun at the match. Gun ran flawlessly with my home brewed minor pf loads - a 185g Precision (moly coated) bullet, being pushed by a whopping 3.3g of Tightgroup and a Winchester small pistol, magnum primer. Dropped a lot more points than I'm used to but didn't feel too bad about it as the recoil impulse and timing is very, very different from what I've been shooting lately. The load was very soft, and very easy on the hands. I suspected at the time it would easily make power factor (velocity x bullet weight must equal at least 125,000). About the only issue of very minor concern was that the brass was not ejecting very far, and was just falling within about 1 foot of the gun. I'll fix this shortly with a lower pound recoil spring which will be a good adjustment for the minor pf loads I'll be using in this gun.
Took the XD out to the range today for a little practice session and ran another 200 rounds through it. Again, using the same load, the gun ran flawlessly. Ran some simple drills to acquaint me with the pistol - triple 6's, 20 Alphas, some reload drills, and wrapped it up with some bill drills. Triple 6's are 6 rounds from 5 yds, 10 yds, and 20 yds, with a par time. Only A's count! 20 Alphas are 4 strings of 5 shots from 20 yds; par time again, and only Alphas count! Getting used to the pistol and as I progressed through the session, my hits were getting better and better. Last set of triple 6's I only dropped 1 pt, and the last set of 20 Alphas I only dropped 3. Times were within about 1/2 a second of where I am shooting my Limited gun and I wasn't pushing hard at all. More than the gun, shooting from a production rig is going to take some getting used to.
I think the only thing other than the recoil spring change will be a different set of sights - I'll put a pair of Heinies on it and call it a day. Can't stand the 3 dots that came with the gun and I've already blacked out the dots but I'm still not 100% happy with the sights.
Once JR overcomes my computer illiteracy and posts the short video I sent him, you can see the XD in action running a bill drill at about 7 yds in just a bit over 2 seconds with all Alpha hits. With some more practice with the production holster I feel pretty confident I can get the bill drill down to well under 2 seconds.
Here it is: Catfish shooting the Bill Drill...
Strip Club May Be Condos After Patron Photos Posted
Check out the lady (link above) protesting the nasty old strip club. She looks like an authority.
Reid My Lips
In the likely event you didn't see this on the news:
United States v. Reid — Final Statements by Judge Young
Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.
On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutive one with the other. That's 80 years.
On Count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years consecutive to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you on each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 for the aggregate fine of $2 million.
The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.
The Court imposes upon you the $800 special assessment.
The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need not go any further.
This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and a just sentence. It is a righteous sentence. Let me explain this to you.
We are not afraid of any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is all too much war talk here. And I say that to everyone with the utmost respect.
Here in this court where we deal with individuals as individuals, and care for individuals as individuals, as human beings we reach out for justice.
You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier gives you far too much stature. Whether it is the officers of government who do it or your attorney who does it, or that happens to be your view, you are a terrorist.
And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not treat with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists.
We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
So war talk is way out of line in this court. You're a big fellow. But you're not that big. You're no warrior. I know warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal guilty of multiple attempted murders.
In a very real sense Trooper Santiago had it right when first you were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and where the TV crews were and you said you're no big deal. You're no big deal.
What your counsel, what your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today? I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing.
And I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you. But as I search this entire record it comes as close to understanding as I know.
It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose.
Here, in this society, the very winds carry freedom. They carry it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely.
It is for freedom's seek that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf and have filed appeals, will go on in their, their representation of you before other judges. We care about it. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties.
Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms.
Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. Day after tomorrow it will be forgotten. But this, however, will long endure. Here, in this courtroom, and courtrooms all across America, the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done.
The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged, and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.
See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America. That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag still stands for freedom. You know it always will. Custody, Mr. Officer. Stand him down.
Thousands Of Pro Illegal Immigration Protesters Skip Work To Protest Immigration Reform Bill
I knew something was up this morning when I stepped out on my front porch and I couldn't hear a leaf blower running for miles. These people are protesting the laws of the United States regarding immigration. They don't give a crap about what illegal immigration does to the United States and the strain it puts on our Social Services and schools. The illegals don't care about coming here and assimilating to our way of life and how we do things here, like flushing the toilet paper they just wiped their ass with down the toilet instead of throwing it in the freakin' trash can. All they want to do is turn the United States into Mexico. You'd think they would look at what a F#cked up place Mexico is, and not want to ruin the place they are all moving to. Here in the Dallas area, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Ford pick-up truck that has a scorpion on the back window and a big decal of a rooster on the front doors. They are every where. Here's an idea, get a work visa, learn the language, and get some auto insurance, or get the hell out. As far as immigration reform goes, why the hell don't we just enforce the laws we already have on the books? We need to be rounding them up and shipping them out. People say they do the jobs that Americans don't want to do, but I think the market on those jobs is pretty much saturated. You can't drive past a convenience store here without seeing a bunch of out of work Mexicans just waiting for somebody with a trailer full of lawn mowers and leaf blowers to pick them up. I'm guessing we could pick up as many as we could every day and send them back, and there will always be enough here to hang the sheetrock. We have got to get serious about our border security. We need to build the fence, quadruple the size of our Border Patrol, round their wet back asses up and ship them back. Amnesty my ass. You can't reward somebody for successfully breaking our laws and getting away with it, especially somebody that has no respect for our sovereignty. Speaking of, why the hell is a baby of an illegal alien that is born here automatically a United Stated Citizen? That is one law I am all for reforming.
We had over a thousand students skip school here in Dallas to protest today. The DISD said that as long as they didn't cause trouble and returned on the district school buses they sent to the protest to pick them up when they were done, then there would be no repercussion. That's a great message to send these kids. Most of these kids are just opportunists that saw a chance to skip school and took it. One student said...
The Chinese built our railroads; we force the Irish to fight our wars; and now the Mexicans; we’re building your roads we are taking care of your children, we’re doing all these things for you… and then for you to oppress us now,” said Skyline High School Student, Jesus Alonzo.
Huh? I'm guessing Jesus skipped both English and History to attend the protest. I'm surprised the quote didn't have to be translated.
There are 99,000 Hispanic students in the Dallas school system, about 47,000 of them are in the category of being ‘limited English proficient’, which means a good number of them could very well come from families that have come the U.S. in some sort of illegal status.
Crazy Sanity-Challenged People and the Internets (Part III)
It's that time of the year again, kids, where we visit the Internets to see some of the insane diverse views of our world, and a few other worlds. And dimensions. And planes of existence. And planes that fly into buildings. This seemed like a good time for this redux, given the influx of abnormal visitors we've gotten recently. Shiny side out, kids!
I guess crazy people have been around for as long as there have been 'normal' people, but it wasn't until the advent of the Internets that I've had to put up with them. I mean, how often do you actually physically meet a bonafide loony and have them foist their nutty ideas on you, really? Never fear, though - a casual stroll through the web will avail you of all sorts of conspiracy theorists, wannabe superstars, and just plain old-fashioned whackos who now have a medium through which they can share their lunacy with the rest of humankind.
What's that you say? You don't know what I'm talking about? Be deprived no longer. Look, linger over their particular brand of whackiness, and don't forget to buy their products!
The New Physics. I guess the old ones were worn out. Let's take a look at this prophetic site:
Israel has promised to attack Iran before March 21, the new moon, Passover
Oops. This site is another fine example of shitty graphics, over-sized fonts, and generally lunatic ranting and raving about whatever apparently entered this person's festering psyche at the moment the muse struck him at the keyboard. But where are the physics??? Scroll about halfway down the page for the introduction, where you can learn about flying saucer physics! Neato.
Orbit is interesting. If by interesting you mean horribly confusing, rambling, incoherent psychotic rants about chemtrails, earthquakes, and those devil-worshipping Bushes. Actual headline:
UPDATE: 9-11 PLANES REMOTE-CONTROLLED BY A PLATFORM IN SPACE
Nope, nothing out of the ordinary here!
Armageddon Online. Can't tell yer megatsunamis from your pandemics without this site! Did you know a wave thousands of feet high will someday hit New York? It's on the Internets, so it must be true!
Swami Sananda - one of my all-time fave loonies, and the one whose ass I want to kick the most. An aggravating website resplendent with unwanted new-age music, horrible HTML and graphics, and lots and lots of pics of Swami Bananarama. He's the coo-cookiest, man. Update: looks like the site's a little smaller these days, but at least it has an enormous scary picture and some crappy new age music!
Think About It. Looks like someone is collecting loony sites. Nice hobby.
The Reptilians. Who are they really? Who really cares? This crazy person does. Buy her music!
Thule makes mincemeat of Mensa! An alliterative nutball. Cool.
Archure (it's a copyrighted name). Turn your speakers up for this one, kids! Archure's a musical genius. Just ask him. Let's face it, there's not that many musical geniuses writing MIDI music anymore. Mostly because it sucks. Visit the Music page and be amazed! Pure genius. My ears are bleeding from the sheer pleasure.
Crystalinks. Ellie Crystal's a psychic! Neato! She got abducted by aliens! Sweet! She's from Brooklyn! ick. Craptacular site.
Infowars.com - Alex Jones hates everything, apparently. Especially the government. Conspiracy! Conspiracy! Update: make sure you read about Charlie Sheen's opinion on 9/11, because we should all listen to substance-abusing actors when it comes to matters of state.
Jeff Rense must have the same water supply as Alex Jones. Mercy. If the volume of crap you put out equals truth, Jeff is the mullet-wearing man!
I've noticed a disturbing trend with most of these sites - a complete lack of visual acuity and any taste whatsoever. They have dozens of pages, and each page is about a mile long. It's called "hyperlinking," people. Use it. Don't believe me? Take a look at DREAMS OF THE GREAT EARTH CHANGES. Cover your eyes, then use the scroll wheel on your mouse. A lot.
This is making me tired, and that means the rays are taking control of my mind. Must...get...rest...sleep...consume...reproduce....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Rescued "christian" Peacemaker Teams speak out
"We believe that the illegal occupation of Iraq by Multinational Forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq. The occupation must end."
Not one single word of thanks to SpecOps for liberating their stupid, inconsiderate, naive asses.
These people are a waste of salt water, and don't deserve to lick the boots of the soldiers who freed them from a certain death. Should've left them to have their heads hacked off, because they deserve it.
Pigeon Panic: Gun Reports Prompt Downtown Lockdown
This one is special, just for Dan!
Those guys from Pittsburgh sure are tough! They sure got excited over a pellet rifle!
Mr. Cat - you'd better be careful with that new vundergun....
Game ON!
The whole crew will be out kicking ass and taking names this weekend.
First monster match of the year, and I know I've been looking forward to it since last year's inaugural Championship.
Heading to the range Friday to check out the stages in person and watch some of the big dogs shoot. Yeah, it's not very "street" tactical to do it that way, and it'll probably get me killed in real life, but it's a smart thing to in this case....
More Gun Porn
I got my Rock Ranch Custom pistol back from Virgil Tripp at Tripp Research the other day and thought I'd share. For those of you that don't know, Tripp does the finest hard chroming on the planet. He is also one hell of a gunsmith. He chromed every part on the gun except for the grip, trigger, and sights. The gun is beautiful. In a couple of weeks I'll have another gun to share. I'll be getting my Open Gun that Virgil is building me. I feel like a kid right before Christmas.
Man sentenced for ride-by bottom slap
Volkswagen Removes Billboards From 3 Cities After Complaints
Volkswagen said Friday it will remove billboards in New York, Los Angeles and Miami after receiving complaints that a word used in an advertisement was offensive to Hispanics.
The ad for the new GTI 2006 had a photo of the sports car accompanied by the words "Turbo-Cojones." Cojones, which means testicles in Spanish, has become a casually used term for boldness or guts in English but has never lost its more vulgar connotations in its native language.
The billboards will be replaced with two ads, with one saying "Here today, gone tamale" and the other "Kick a little gracias."
Actor Charlie Sheen Questions Official 9/11 Story
Actor Charlie Sheen has joined a growing army of other highly credible public figures in questioning the official story of 9/11 and calling for a new independent investigation of the attack and the circumstances surrounding it.
First off, I don't see how anybody could type this and take themselves seriously. For some reason when I think of credible public figures, Charlie Sheen doesn't come to mind.
"It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box cutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75% of their targets, that feels like a conspiracy theory. It raises a lot of questions."
Brilliant! It was a conspiracy, you idiot. It was a conspiracy planned and committed by terrorists. Why is it easier for some people to believe that our government is responsible for this act instead of Al Qaeda?
"There was a feeling, it just didn't look any commercial jetliner I've flown on any time in my life and then when the buildings came down later on that day I said to my brother 'call me insane, but did it sorta look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition'?"
Okay, you're insane. Last weekend in Fort Worth, the tallest building in downtown was destroyed by a controlled blast. The building collapsed inward and the only damage to the surrounding structures were a few windows were broken out. Now, take a look at that picture. How can somebody look at that picture and think that it is an implosion? Debris rained down over a large area destroying building 7 and damaging others to the point they had to later be demolished.
Sheen goes on to talk about the plane that hit the Pentagon.
Sheen outlined his disbelief that the official story of what happened at the Pentagon matched the physical evidence.
"Show us this incredible maneuvering, just show it to us. Just show us how this particular plane pulled off these maneuvers. 270 degree turn at 500 miles and hour descending 7,000 feet in two and a half minutes, skimming across treetops the last 500 meters."
This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If the government wanted to pull this off to start a war, why in the hell would they fly a plane into the place that is home to the Department of Defense?
Charlie Sheen joins the rest of his great family and notably his father Martin Sheen, who has lambasted for opposing the Iraq war before it had begun yet has now been proven right in triplicate, in using his prominent public platform to stand for truth and justice and we applaud and salute his brave efforts...
I knew that Charlie Sheen was a total moron, but now we also know that the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. He is as big a kook as his father.
Gun prOn!
Been a bit since we posted any cool gun pics. I thought I'd take this opportunity to welcome the newest member of the Catfish family to the world.... drum roll please.....
As the Finance Minister has declared that our Home Defense Budget cannot sustain any growth this quarter in order to continue the entitlements our 4 legged constituants have come to expect, I had to part ways with my previous XD which was a "duty" model in 9mm. Heckuva nice gun! The new gun is a full size "tactical" model in .40 S&W.
Since I plan to make an assualt on the USPSA nationals this year, and again, the Finance Minister says no way in hell can I drop 4 grand on an Open gun like other esteemed members of this blog... I'll be shooting this "tactical" model in Production class at nationals....
In addition, I can shoot her in ESP in IDPA-land if I so choose, and make some nice powder puff loads that chrono about 132pf that should really piss off some of the mall ninjas; but hey, all I have to do to get back on their good side is point out that my slide actually says "Tactical" on it!!
Got the package deal that included the gun, two mags, a double mag pouch and a holster for about $435 at the Fort Worth gun show today. Picked up another coupla mags, and will need probalby two more; plus a few more mag pouches for Production - but I've got plenty of time to do that....
As soon as I can take her out to the range to make a range report, I'll let you all know how she shoots.
A Small Texan
An humorous anectdote from Uncle Bill in New Orleans. Apologies to little people everywhere...
The testicles of a Texas midget hurt and ached almost all the time. He went to the doctor and told him about his problem. The doctor told him to drop his pants and he would have a look.
The midget dropped his pants. The doctor stood him up on the examining table, and started to examine him. The doc put one finger under his left testicle and told him to turn his head and cough, the usual method to check for a hernia.
"Aha!" mumbled the doc, and as he put his finger under the right testicle, he asked him to cough again. "Aha!" said the doctor once more, and reached for his surgical scissors. Snip-snip-snip-snip on the right side, then snip-snip-snip-snip on the left side.
The little guys was so scared, he was afraid to look, but noted with amazement that the snipping did not hurt. The doctor then told him to walk around the examining room to see if his testicles still hurt.
He was absolutely delighted as he walked around and discovered his boys were no longer aching.
The doctor said, "How does that feel now?" The midget replied, "Perfect Doc, and I didn't even feel it. What did you do?"
The doctor replied, "I cut two inches off the top of your cowboy boots."
A star is born: Owens signs with the Cowboys
I was joking with my wife about this last night, saying I'd heard on the radio that TO had signed with the Cowboys. Little did I know at the time, but in a sure sign of the apocalypse, Owens is now a Cowboy.
There's no doubting that TO is a fantastic talent on the field. He is truly a gifted athlete. However, there is also no doubting that he has pretty much single handedly destroyed his last two teams due to his childish and selfish off the field behavior.
Had I been the one signing the checks, I would have signed him at the league minimum, with bonuses at the END of the year, and not the beginning for good behavior and solid performance.
Part of the gamble with Owens coming to Dallas is whether fans will embrace him. Many are still bitter about the September 2000 game when, while playing for the 49ers, Owens celebrated each of two touchdown catches at Texas Stadium by running to the team's star logo at midfield. Safety George Teague secured a spot in team lore by decking Owens after the second one.
I can't help but feel a sense of foreboding for the Cowboy's future on this deal.
