The Helipad Open photos

Now Andre Agassi and Roger Federer are on top of that helipad that Tiger Wood was pimping in BradC's post the other day. Playing tennis 200 meters in the air. Once again, I would be too busy vomiting to participate. Heck, I get queasy looking at these pictures.

I'm starting to think this may be some sort of publicity work for this hotel...

Officials: Gun laws are being exploited

More decidedly anti-gun non-news from the Star-Smellagram.
Because Texas does not require any state registration to buy a firearm, it is relatively easy for someone to buy a gun for a person who is forbidden to own one. That kind of deal is known as a "straw purchase."
It's also known as a "felony."
Employees at his store helped nab one man, who was arrested and charged with five counts of conspiracy and lying to purchase a firearm.

The suspect, Luciano Varela, told authorities that he was shopping in the store in June when a stranger approached him and asked him to buy him a handgun. He told Varela that he would pay for the gun and give him $30 for his trouble.
I've seen this same sort of reporting used by the Brady Bunch to perpetuate the myth of the so-called "gun show loophole." It's a non-story, because you can't do it legally.
Varela pleaded guilty in January to lying during the first Academy purchase. He is expected to be sentenced next month.

Perot said many people do not realize how dangerous it is to buy a gun for a stranger
Let me put it this way: buying alcohol for a minor is illegal, too, but you don't see newspaper articles on people who've been caught and prosecuted doing that. Why don't we close the "liquor store loophole?"

ABC News: Author: Bush Tapes Not Meant for Public

Typical. Is anyone surprised that the NYT tries to spin this into a negative??

Let's see, Bush comes out and essentially says he's smoked pot and maybe even did some cocaine. Um, that story's about 8 years old now, at least. Old news. Move on.

Bush says he won't discriminate against gays - I'm sure that upset the Krugman faithful.

Just another non-story hyped up by the NYT, you know, an objective news source trying to make the pres look bad.

Advocates Call on NY to Pass Tougher Assault Weapons Ban

Join Together is really starting to piss me off. These wankers use their website and a number of tactics taken by the Brady Bunch to spout their nonsensical hatred of guns. They're all upset over the shooting in the mall in NY, where the shooter injured two people.
Reports stated that the weapon used was a Hesse Model 47 (a copy cat version of the banned AK-47 assault weapon). In addition, the shooter was able to squeeze off approximately 60 rounds and may have reloaded one time.
60 rounds and only 2 injuries? Nice shooting, Tex. Of course, the Hesse is a POS rip-off of the AK, and I'm surprised it even fired that many rounds. But I digress.

Note the rational discourse in this "press release:"
The gun industry continues to profit from sales of guns made only to kill as many people as quickly as possible by making minor cosmetic changes to banned assault guns to produce "copy cat" and "knock-off" versions.
Of course, they have a solution: ban them!
Andy Pelosi, Executive Director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence said, "The reality in New York State is that the current ban on assault weapons is inadequate and Sunday's shooting only serves to highlight the fact that an entire class of deadly weapons can still be obtained by civilians to wreak havoc. Military-style assault weapons are preferred by criminal gangs, drug dealers and individuals intent on mass murder...
I mean, ban them more. Here's another level-headed, unemotional evaluation:
Bryan Miller, Executive Director of Ceasefire NJ, whose only brother, FBI Special Agent Mike Miller, was one of three law enforcement officers killed in a 1994 massacre at Washington, DC Police Headquarters by a lone gunman wielding an assault gun said: "I can tell you, there are some weapons that are just plain inappropriate for civil society, especially assault weapons. By allowing such mass killing machines to be sold on the civilian market we make it easy for disturbed people like Robert Bonelli or criminals like the man who killed my brother to get their hands on them and enact mayhem. And that mayhem means families and communities grieving, because we let the gun lobby have its way. Everyone was lucky this time, but that won't always be the case, as it wasn't for Mike. It is pure insanity to allow the sale of assault weapons."
Finally, we have the obligatory "think of the children" appeal:
Barbara Hohlt, board member of NYAGV said, "We have a moral obligation as citizens and parents to make sure that our communities, malls, schools and streets are safe from these weapons of war. We must make sure that assault weapons are not available in our communities."
"Mass killing machines." "Weapons of war." "Deadly weapons." "Military-style assault weapons." I'm a little disappointed that "bullet hose" was left out, but whatcha gonna do?

Kyoto protest beaten back by inflamed petrol traders

Crikey! Looks like the poor little Greenpeace thugs got a bit more than they expected!

This is why the left considers typing furious diatribes on the internet to be a brave form of fighting. Because apparently they have some problems doing it in person.

Greenpeace hasn't seen this kind of beating since the frogs sank the Rainbow Warrior some time back.
They made their way to the trading floor, blowing whistles and sounding fog horns, encountering little resistance from security guards. Rape alarms were tied to helium balloons to float to the ceiling and create noise out of reach. The IPE conducts “open outcry” trading where deals are shouted across the pit. By making so much noise, the protesters hoped to paralyse trading. But they were set upon by traders, most of whom were under the age of 25. “They were kicking and punching men and women indiscriminately,” a photographer said. “It was really ugly, but Greenpeace did not fight back.” Mr. Beresford said: “They followed the guys into the lobby and kept kicking and punching them there. They literally kicked them on to the pavement.” Last night Greenpeace said two protesters were in hospital, one with a suspected broken jaw, the other with concussion.
OOPS. :)

This is Why Cowards in Masks Will Not Win This War

Why does this picture make the rounds through the internet but not the pages of the New York Times?

Marine 1st Sergeant Brad Kasal (in the middle). This photo is from the most recent major offensive in Fallujah. Sgt. Kasal sacrificed his own safety to save a room full of fellow Marines. He ended up taking several AK rounds in the leg. Most of his lower leg was blown away but you can't tell it from this pic. He took rounds in the back. He took one round through his butt which passed through both cheeks leaving 4 holes in him. And he also took the brunt of a grenade blast. He jumped on top of a younger Marine to cover him from the fire. He killed the terrorist who did most of the damage to him and his men, and despite a massive loss of blood he never stopped fighting.
Notice that he's still holding his pistol. He has been put in for the Medal of Honor for his actions on that day. He already has several Purple Hearts for previous battles throughout his career and he has turned some down so that he could stay with his unit. While in the hospital he has met President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and several other celebrities. He said that President Bush came in by himself and had a very long, sincere, and friendly visit with him.
I don't have the attribution for the original story, but this was passed on by Catfish.

Newsday.com: Dean Seeks Media Blackout, Changes Mind

Hey, lefties! Looks like your hero is off to a great start!

Now, one must ask - why in the world would a prominent Democrat, and now the head of the DNC demand a press blackout for any speaking engagement?? Could it be because he knows, as DC and others have pointed out, that anytime the mainstream Demorats start to talk about who they really are and what they really think (I mean feel) that all of a sudden, the average Joe on the street, the average Wal Mart shopper, all of a sudden thinks - key word here folks - thinks that maybe the Democrat party is not the party of the people that they once contend they were.

And, my vote for the quote of the year thus far goes to Stephen Minarik: "it is not the Republican Party's problem that these far-left activists have made their home in the Democratic party."

More wailing from CNN

While getting dressed this morning at the gym, I was suffering through CNN on the TV in the locker room. The talking heads were blathering on and on, and then their 'intelligence advisor' gets on. He starts to whine that the intelligence bill "that the President pushed through in the fall in order to not give an issue to John Kerry" might need to be tweaked.

This got the ole catfish brain working. I somehow recall that the President pushed this bill through to put an end to the sniveling of the MSM and the Jersey Gals who were whining ad nauseum that "something had to be done. And now!" That the Congress was hammering the President to pass the bill "NOW!!"

The analyst then goes on to say that "some people" are admitting behind closed doors that there could be problems with the bill. Now, here's an idea. If you want to add some credibility back into the media - let's quit calling detractors and supporters "some people". Name names. Who are these guys and gals?? I mean hell, I know "some people" who think that President Clinton was the greatest thing since sliced bread. But, to protect the innocent and the naive, I won't tell you who they are.

Regardless, I would expect to now hear the lefty's pick up on this theme that the intelligence bill, that the President "rushed" through Congress, is doomed to fail, or will not protect us with the level of safety that we require.

Once again, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Gunman Opens Fire at Upstate New York Mall

A lone gunman opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle Sunday inside a crowded mall in upstate New York, wounding one person before running out of ammunition and being subdued by employees, authorities said.
I don't know where to begin. Either this idiot only brought one bullet, or he is a horrible shot. This is the reason I carry a gun every day. I don't think this will ever happen while I am at the mall, but then again, I doubt the people getting shot at thought it would happen to them either. The random act of violence is something you need to be prepared for. When you see a man carrying an AK-47 into the mall, shoot first, hit first, get your family home safe.

Newswise | Not Enough Evidence to Say Gun Laws Reduce Violence

Look at this gibberish:
The studies included laws to ban certain types of guns or ammunition, such as fully automatic assault weapons and the cheap handguns commonly known as 'Saturday night specials.' Others studies examined laws that restrict certain people from buying guns, determine waiting periods for gun purchases, require gun registration, allow for concealed weapon and impose 'zero tolerance' for firearms in schools. The task force also reviewed studies that looked at combinations of these laws.
"Fully automatic assault weapons?" What? I WISH I could get my hands on one, but they've been restricted for a long time now.

"Saturday night specials?" What? Poor people can't defend themselves? Only landed gentry should own firearms? WTF?

"Zero tolerance for firearms in schools?" What? Last I checked, it's illegal to have firearms in schools, isn't it?

This is funny, though:
The federal Brady Law, which requires automatic background checks and a waiting period before a gun can be purchased from a dealer, was among the laws reviewed in the studies. Its effectiveness also remains uncertain, according to Hahn and colleagues.

(The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence did not respond to a request for comment.)

MSNBC - Detainees accuse female interrogators

A couple of thoughts here.

1. Anytime these female interrogators wants to practice their techniques, I'm available. Anytime. I mean, I'd be sacrificing for the country and all that, so if duty were to call, I'm there.

"The women rubbed their bodies against the men, wore skimpy clothes in front of them, made sexually explicit remarks and touched them provocatively, at least eight detainees said in documents or through their attorneys." And "German detainee Murat Kurnaz told his lawyer that three women in lacy bras and panties strutted into the interrogation room where he was sitting in chains. They cooed about how attractive he was and suggested "they could have some fun," he said." And "He recounted to his lawyer that when he refused to talk in one interview, a female soldier entered wearing a tight T-shirt. "Why aren't you married?" she reportedly asked Esmail. "You are a young man and have needs. What do you like?" Esmail said "she bent down with her breasts on the table and her legs almost touching" him. "Are you going to talk," she asked, "or are we going to do this for six hours?""

I mean, some people pay good money for that kind of attention!

2. Where's the NOW gang?? If this was the Clinton Administration rather than the Bush administration, you'd hear the NOWnags going off on the fact that "some Muslims believe that "if a woman touches him prior to prayer, then he's dirty and can't pray."" However, the NOWnags have been strangely silent here. Hmmmmm.

Reporter Quits Amid Credential Questions

Ok, we now have an admitted conservative reporter step down from the White House Press Corpse. Anytime the rest of the long haired maggot infested liberal press corps wants to step down because they have an admitted liberal bias, you let us know

I mean, why is this even an issue?

"Guckert frequently attended White House press briefings over the last two years and asked pointedly conservative questions."

Who gives a rat's ass if he asked pointedly conservative questions?? We could go to any press conference on any given day and 90% (AT LEAST!) of the questions asked by the press corpse are pointedly liberal! Where's the outrage over that? Where's the Boston Globe investigation?

And some people wonder why the MSM's viewers/readers continue to find other outlets for their news.

9/11 Report Cites Many Warnings About Hijackings

Hey look, another objective and unbiased piece of reporting from the NY Times.

Why don't they just come up with the subheading that says "official mouthpiece of the Democrat Party"? At least that way they would be honest about their so called reporting.

The problem (among many) with this story is that pre 9/11, there was simply no (or very very little) concept that someone would ram a jetliner into a sky scraper.

You can have 2,000 warnings that say hijackings are likely, but pre 9/11 what did that mean?? It means that a terrorist asshole will either blow up the plane mid-flight (like Pan Am 103 over Scotland) or hijack the plane to a friendly country like Cuba or Libya or Iran.

Flight crews prior to 9/11 were instructed that in the case of a hijacking, you comply to the best of your ability with the hijacker in order to get the plane on the ground and give the passengers the best chance of survival.

The Times conveniently leaves that part of the equation out of it and would like us all to pretend that prior to 9/11 everyone but the Bush administration had their crystal ball out and saw two planes ram into the WTC and one into the Pentagon.

nah nah na na, nah nah na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.

Looks like there are two clear losers here.

1. The DNC. For those leftists that think (I mean FEEL) that Howard Dean is going to be their saviour - I've got bad news for you. Dean can't control his mouth in public and his leftist views do not do anything to the vast majority of the country other than make them move more towards right of center.

2. The Clintons. The Clintons have been anti-Dean at least back to the election season last year and we may have just seen the end of Hillary's run for Pres. Time will tell but apparently the Clintons and Dean don't see eye to eye at the current time.

Some in U.S. voting with their feet

For God's sake leave already and don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!
I can't tell you how tired I am of this story. These people have had three months to pack their Birkenstocks and bongs and hit the road. Please hurry and be sure and call Alec Baldwin to see if he wants to car pool in your VW Bus.

These people say they love America, but they do not. They sure don't love it like I do. After Bill Clinton was re-elected after everything had come out about him and how he disgraced his presidency, the Oval Office, his marriage, and lied under oath just to name a few, I was disgusted, but never once did I consider moving out of the country. I hope these people leave and leave fast. I also hope they regret it every day they are not living in this great country. Have fun working for less and paying more taxes. Have fun with the government health care program up there, also. And I sure hope the terrorists leave y'all alone, because Canada sure can't protect itself from any threat. Hell, our Salvation Army could kick their asses. It's obvious the last thing these people are interested in is democracy, but the United States has liberated over 60 million people in two different countries and introduced them to democracy. The more countries that democracy has a foot hold in over there, the harder it will be for the terrorist to gain a foot hold. So, post your picture on the "I'm sorry website", then pack your stuff and leave.

"I love the United States," he said as he stood on the Vancouver waterfront, staring toward the Coastal Range, which was lost in a gray shroud. "I fought for it in Vietnam. FOXNews.com - U.S. & World - Old Gun Law Reaps New Benefits in S.F.

Here is where you find a core difference between pro-gunners and anti-gunners. Pro gunners believe that if you enforce the existing laws on the books, you have more than enough reason to put thugs in jail. Anti-gunners believe that more laws = more safety, completely disregarding the fact that dozens of laws already exist on the books to prosecute violent crime.

Now, why San Fransisco only recently started to use this "old" law is beyond me.

Response from Democrats

A little dissection is in order here:
From Senator Reid
"I was born and raised in the high desert of Nevada in a tiny town called Searchlight. My dad was a hard rock miner. My mom took in wash. I grew up around people of strong values - even if they rarely talked about them. They loved their country, worshiped God, never shunned hard work, and never asked for special favors. My life has been very different from what I imagined growing up, but no matter how far I¹ve traveled, Searchlight is still the place I go back to and still the place I call home."
I love this. Do you notice that ever since Kerry's run for the presidency that the Democrats have to go to all sorts of lengths to show that they're "men/women of the people." You don't see Bush doing it, you didn't see Reagan doing it. We knew where our leaders came from and what they stand for. They didn't have to continuously re-invent themselves to try and reach certain segments of our population.
"It's important that we succeed. It's time that America's government lived by the same values as America's families. It's time we invested in America's future and made sure our people have the skills to compete and thrive in a 21st century economy. That's what Democrats believe. That's where we stand."
What exactly does this mean?? It, as usual from the libs, says NOTHING. Who among us can argue with this statement?? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller??
"This 21st century economy holds great promise for our people. But unless we give all Americans the skills they need to succeed, countries like India and China will take good-paying jobs that should be ours."
I seem to recall that a lot of the jobs going overseas are those that involve customer service?? Low paying jobs that folks in China and India are willing to do for less than Americans are willing to do?? What's a telemarketer make per hour anyway??
"I want you to know that when we believe the president is on the right track, we won't let partisan interests get in the way of what's good for the country. We will be first in line to work with him. But when he gets off track, we will be there to hold him accountable."
So the President is "on track" when he does what you want, but "off track" when he plots his own course?? Why is it that you don't think that YOU are the one "off track", Senator?? Why do you think that the American people overwhelmingly placed Republicans in charge rather than Democrats?? Maybe (could it be???) the majority of Americans think that the Republicans are "on track" and your party is going the wrong way?
"Even after the president's speech, the American people are still asking these questions. You can be sure that Democrats will continue to offer real answers in the months ahead."
Your rebuttal was your chance to offer up some answers, Senator, but you do nothing other than cast stones with no solutions. So what's your answer? Where's your plan? What's your vision? Your response was notably lacking in answers, solutions, plans, or vision. It was nothing more than an attack on a President that you detest.

From Congressperson Pelosi
Her preamble is again, nothing more than trying to prove how much she knows and understands the American military and foreign policy. She wastes a good portion of her speech trying to pretend that she actually is a military supporter, and not someone who loathes everything the military stands for. Again, you do not see President Bush bragging about how much time he's spent at the hospitals or with families of those killed and wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. You don't see Bush bragging about how he flew into Baghdad last year to share a holiday meal with our troops.

Bush does NOT have to prove that he supports our troops, but for some reason, the liberals feel compelled to do so. Why do you think that is?
"We have never heard a clear plan from this administration for ending our presence in Iraq. And we did not hear one tonight."
Bush has consistently given an answer to this question, Congresswoman. The answer is, when we win. I realize that you have a hard time understanding what VICTORY is, after all, how long's it been since your party has won anything? We'll be out when it's time to get out and setting a phony timetable will do nothing. I seem to recall Bill Clinton setting a timetable for us to get out of Kosovo, yet I also clearly recall that we still have troops there. Are you upset over that as well?
"For three years, the president has failed to put together a comprehensive plan to protect America from terrorism. And we did not hear one tonight."
Umm, I hate to point this out to you, Madame Pelosi, but I don't seem to recall hearing of another attack on the United States since 9/11. Maybe I forgot, but I don't think so. Obviously, something the President is doing is working.
"Democrats are committed to a strong national security: that keeps America safe, that wins the War on Terror and that never again sends our troops into harm's way without the equipment they need."
Oh yes, that's why your Presidential candidate voted for the 87 billion before he voted against it? And again, why is it that you feel you must so strongly declare your martial spirit?? Could it be that since the Vietnam era the Democrat party has largely spit on the military? Hmmmm?

As usual - no solutions or debate on the issues facing our country. No alternative solutions. Nothing. Only slightly vieled threats, name calling, and whining. The modern day Democrat party at its finest.

Dean Emerging as Likely Chief for Democrats

Ok, taking into consideration that this piece comes to us from the New York Times and is likely to be proven full of ca-ca, it still makes for entertaining reading.

And, if true, do you hear that bell tolling in the distance?? That would be the end of the modern day Democrat Party. Also, it would appear to be the final bell for the Clintonistas so all in all, it's a wonderful day!

The Michael Bane Blog: Day 7 of Michael's Frightening Road Trip...

Classic. For you Glockster's out there:

"A couple of years back, I wrote in a gun magazine (facetiously!) that by 2011, the only handgun made in the world would be the 1911 .45. Everybody else would just throw in the towel, call it a day, retool and knock out the old Browning warhorse by the gazillions. This year's SHOT Show did nothing to dissuade me of the notion. You could stand in the middle of the Las Vegas Convention Center, pick any direction at random, spit and hit a 1911."

Big D is making the switch, and now if we can only convince JR, TG, and Dan (yes, that's his real name, Dan) to shoot a real gun, life will be good. ;)

'Hagar' Wins Comics Poll in Texas

This just proves what a bunch of wankers read the Ft. Worth Star-Smellagram. The Family Circus took second. Craptacular.

What if Bush has been right about Iraq all along?

"By now, you might have even voted against George Bush -- a second time -- to register your disapproval.
But after watching Sunday's election in Iraq and seeing the first clear sign that freedom really may mean something to the Iraqi people, you have to be asking yourself: What if it turns out Bush was right, and we were wrong?"
It's a Liberal nightmare: you might actually be (*gasp*) wrong.
I won't say that it had never occurred to me previously, but it's never gone through my mind as strongly as when I watched the television coverage from Iraq that showed long lines of people risking their lives by turning out to vote, honest looks of joy on so many of their faces.
I noticed those looks, too. The ink-stained finger (no, not that one) has become the new symbol of Democracy in an otherwise human-rights wasteland.
For now, though, I think we have to cut the president some slack about a timetable for his exit strategy.

If it turns out Bush was right all along, this is going to require some serious penance.
Crow. It's what's for dinner.

No Sex? No Pizza? What Is This, a Prison?

Deprived of their flat-screen TVs, mobile phones, pizza deliveries and long visits from lovers, inmates at Mexico's top security prison complained on Monday they are being treated 'like dogs.'
That's tragic. Stop snickering, I'm serious...quit it, I mean it. Stop. Poor convicts.

Latinos protest school’s policies

Again, liberalism at its finest. Free speech only applies if you speak what the liberals want you to speak. Talk about things that 'insult' them, or hurt their widdle feelings, then you of course better shut up. I watched some of the local coverage of this event on TV, and pretty much laughed my ass off watching some of the little wanabe hippie freaks on campus whine about how it's not fair to protest the immigration policies of the US, as it was considered "hate speech".

Just to make sure I got this right - hate speech is when you protest the flood of, and here's the key word dear readers - ILLEGAL immigration.

Read and enjoy from the Denton newspaper. (registration required, which is why I've just pasted the whole thing here)

Students: UNT should not have allowed ‘Capture an Illegal Immigrant Day’

07:23 AM CST on Tuesday, February 1, 2005

By Josh Baugh / Staff Writer

Scores of Latino students from the University of North Texas lambasted their school Monday for allowing a political demonstration that they say amounted to hate speech and called for more stringent restrictions in the campus’ several "free speech" zones.

Latino students and organizations from UNT and other area universities, along with several representatives from the League of United Latin American Citizens gathered to discuss "Capture an Illegal Immigrant Day," held on Wednesday by UNT’s chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas.

"I’m all for freedom of speech," one student said. "But we were offended by the way they conveyed their message."

Pricila Cardenas, president of LULAC at UNT, said the marginalization of illegal immigrants was demeaning and offensive.

"It was not a joke. It was not a game," she said. "If it’s going to offend and hurt people, something should be done."

Several students said in the meeting that UNT’s Dean of Students office shouldn’t have allowed the conservative group access to the free speech zone because of the harmful nature of its demonstration, in which members of the Young Conservatives wore bright orange shirts that read "Illegal Immigrant" on the front and "Catch me if U can" on the back. Passersby could check in at the group’s table, receive a badge and go find the "illegal immigrants." Captures were rewarded with 100 Grand candy bars. The Young Conservatives also handed out literature it says accurately outlines problems with illegal immigration, though many Latino students said it was false and "misinformation."

Dean Ken Ballom said the university does not grant or deny access to the free speech zones based on content.

"I would say all [applications] are granted and basically what we try to do is review to see if there is a health or safety risk, and if the space is available," he said. "No decisions are made based upon the content of the speech."

Students took turns passionately speaking about the pain and humiliation they felt at the hands of the Young Conservatives and calling for action. Some demanded a public apology for the group’s actions.

But Chris Brown, the group’s president, offered none.

"We do feel like our event was not taken as we thought it would have been. We did not want to offend anyone, but it was a side effect," he said to the crowd. "We do not apologize for what we did."

After dozens of students traded ideas of adding constraints to the free speech zones to protect others from the pain they say they suffered last week, UNT professor Abraham Benavides implored the students to move forward and embrace the positive elements that have arisen from the incident.

"I appreciated the emotion that is in this room, but I don’t think we should go down this road," he said. "To say that we don’t want free speech is not a good idea. Someday, you’ll want to have your free speech protected too."

He pointed out that during his time at UNT, he has never seen the unity of the Latino community that he saw Monday night.

"Don’t stop the dialogue," he told them. "Don’t concentrate on the negative."

Rice: Iraqi Election Tops Expectations

72% turnout for the vote. That's amazing. Of course, John Kerry, wanna-be leader of the free world says,
"It is hard to say that something is legitimate when whole portions of the country can't vote and doesn't vote," Kerry said.
John, some of us are tired of hearing your "count every vote" mantra.

72% of the population voted, in spite of threats of violence and even death. Democracy is a great motivator, and once again it's the silent masses who are speaking loudest. Remember, it's a minority of very violent, very evil people who want to retain control of the corrupt fascist state that the 72% have said "no" to. Congratulations to the Iraqi people.

Sen. Barbara Boxer Steps Into Spotlight

'I've always been this way,' she says, 'and I'm trying to figure out exactly why people suddenly find this to be interesting, you know. Somehow I have touched something inside people, and I have not ever had this happen before. The only thing I can think, after reading what people said, is a feeling that I'm asking the kind of questions and saying the kind of things that they are feeling.'
"This way" = "stupid."

It would be SO great if this is the best the Democrats could do for 2008. It only demonstrates how completely out of touch the Democratic party is with the general electorate. If this is where they want to go, fine. But you voting Democrats better get used to this concept: losing.
Sen. Mark Dayton (news, bio, voting record) of Minnesota, a fellow liberal who stood with Boxer in opposing Rice, criticized her on the Senate floor over her decision to bring the November election certification to a halt. He called it "seriously misguided."
Heck, even her pals know she's a nut.

All you non-voting, bellyaching, no-load-bearing, so-called "Americans" listen up: people in Iraq will face possible DEATH to exercise their inalienable human right to vote tomorrow, while you sit back and tsk-tsk over the whole "Iraq situation." This is why we've gone over there.

At the very least, show some respect. At the most, stand with them, and show them how right they are. If you can do neither, shut up.

icLiverpool - Ball bearing guns 'must be banned'

Ball bearing guns, AKA BB guns. That's right - you read it correctly: BB guns. The Brits say these must be banned, too. You know, it really sucks that this guy suffered a spinal injury due to a BB gun. When I was a kid, we'd ride our bicycles to "the hills" and have BB gun wars. I have a friend who still has a BB in his side. Guess what? Nobody got their picture in the paper, and pretty much nobody cared. It's an accident, and it sucks. But the guns aren't to blame.

Those who hold that there's no "slippery slope" with respect to gun control should pay attention to this article. It could happen here. What's next? Ban pictures of guns?

Rice Confirmed Despite Dems' Criticisms

The 11 other Democrats who voted against Rice included some of the Senate's best-known names, such as Massachusetts Sens. Edward M. Kennedy and John Kerry, the unsuccessful candidate for president against Bush last year.
It's called "pissin' in the wind." When are these idiots going to let it go? Go find a worthy cause to fight, LOSERS.

Boys arrested for stick figure drawings

A felony? A FELONY? For a stick figure? And they say that the tree huggers haven't taken over our society.

Sorry folks, this is the reason that Sister Jane Katherine had an enormous wooden paddle in her office and she swung it like Barry Bonds. Nothing like a good piece of hickory upside your ass to get your attention. It was an incredibly efficient learning device. Trust me, I know first hand.

The court at age 9 and 10 inflicts no pain, which is a great motivator of 9 and 10 year olds. Maybe we'll all get lucky and they'll just get sent to bed without dinner. I'm sure their parents are big believers in the "Time Out" plan, I know this because of how they act in school. To this day, I would rather get hit by a bus than get hit by my Dad, and most of my friends are the same way. Discipline in NOT a bad thing. That fact is lost on the touchy-feely crowd.

But what do I know, I don't have any felony convictions on my record.

Family suffers 2nd loss to skydiving accident

It's called gravity, and it's not really optional. Rapid deceleration trauma is not something you just shake off.

Jumping out of a functioning aircraft is not a "sport." Unless the aircraft is hurtling towards the earth at terminal velocity, or you're being inserted into enemy territory, there's not a good reason to jump out of one.

It's tragic this family has lost 2 family members. But get this:
Dennis Jensen told reporters in Texas that he had learned of his brother's death as he was on his way to meet him, just five minutes from the Dallas drop zone, according to The Associated Press.

Undeterred, he completed the jump alone only hours later.
It might not be bad luck.

(Got your attention, didn't I?)

Ya know, the kid may have something here. I give him an "I" for innovation, at least. So long as it stops short of ol' Bubba walking around with "Drink More Bud" tattooed on his big, hairy beer gut, I say go for it.

Moore, Gibson ignored by Oscar

You hear that? It's the sound of me not caring about Moore's crapumentary being passed over (sorry - bad pun there. I thought Passion was okay).

Moore's ego prompted him to remove Fahrenheit 9/11 from the crockumentary category in order to be considered for best picture. The People's Choice award (thanks to MoveOn.org's campaign) for best picture went to Moore, and he must've thought that was an actual movie award.

Swing and a miss, fat boy. Sit down.

Icelanders apologise for Iraq war

Iceland's backing has had little impact on the coalition's fortunes since the war began in March 2003. The North Atlantic archipelago of 295,000 people and no military has contributed nothing but its government's verbal support.
That's it - I'm boycotting Icelandic imports.

Man Survives 35 Days Lost in Mushroom Cave

A Frenchman lost in a labyrinth of disused mushroom caves said he had survived 35 days by eating rotten wood and clay, after being rescued only thanks to a teachers' strike.
Geez...I don't even know where to start making fun of this one. It's so...French.

Al-Zarqawi Said to Declare 'Fierce War'

Finally, someone actually comes out and admits what some are teaching in the world of Islam:

"We have declared a fierce war on this evil principle of democracy and those who follow this wrong ideology," said the speaker, who identified himself as Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the al-Qaida affiliate in Iraq. "Anyone who tries to help set up this system is part of it."

And it gets better:

"The speaker said democracy was based on un-Islamic beliefs and behaviors such as freedom of religion, rule of the people, freedom of expression, separation of religion and state, forming political parties and majority rule."

Emphasis added was mine.

Now, if there's not a better reason to go out there and squash these little thugs like the cockaroches (imagine me pronouncing that a-la Al Pacino's Scarface) they are, I can't think of one.

Sen. Boxer takes victim role after hearing for Rice

So Barb is claiming to be the victim in the nasty little exchange that she initiated last week? WHAT??

Frankly, I know someone that's exactly like the good Senator from Kalifornia - he's a typical bully, just like Barb. They're really good at smack talking until someone stands up to them, and then it's on to the victimology of the whole thing.

Condi smacked Barb around, and Barb deserved every stinking minute of it.

Way to go, Condi - and Barb, you're just whining because you know you got your ass kicked on national tv.

How's that shoe taste?

Countdown to global catastrophe

Quack-a-doodle-doo alert!!

Once again, *theory* broadly accepted as fact. Where's the "other side" of this argument in the article? Notice that it is sadly lacking from this article (as usual) and aren't all journalists supposed to be able to present varying sides of any discussion to retain their *objectivity*??

I will again, dear readers, point out that ONE volcanic eruption has the ability to *pollute* the atmosphere more than ALL of mankind has in ALL of mankind's history.

Let me also point out the small fact that not too long ago (geologically, anyway), the earth left a period of time widely referred to as the *ICE Age*. What in the world prompted the earth to warm up at that time, some several thousand years ago?? I mean, taking into consideration that early cave men and neanderthals lacked the internal combustion engine.

It's called the weather, people, deal with it.

Late-Night King Johnny Carson Dies at 79

A true end of an era.

I remember watching Carson and Ed McMahon with my grandfather when I was but a small lad. Frankly, late night has not ever been the same without him, and the tonight show has pretty much blown since his retirement. No one could match his ability to poke fun at people without the rancor that seems to exist in today's many late night variants.

I suppose to some degree I kept holding out hope that he'd come back some time and rescue late night from it's current state of stagnation but I guess that won't be happening now.

Pending approval by the full Senate, Rice would be the first black woman to hold the job. She was confirmed by a 16-2 vote with Democrats John Kerry of Massachusetts and Barbara Boxer of California voting no.

My President

I initially posted this on DC's site in response to a story he told about meeting President Bush way back when.

I thought a little about it and decided to post it here as well for those unfortunate enough to not visit DC. In addition, since I was limited to just 1,000 words (I know, Julie!) I thought some additional comments were warranted.

This story starts many years ago, when W was running for Governor against Ann "I need to iron my face" Richards. In the midst of the campaign, W came to visit the college campus where I worked. At the time, I was working as a tour guide at the museum across the street from campus and going to grad school. We had all been told by the director that if by chance we ran into the candidate's party, we were to steer clear and give them space.

That night, when it was time to lock up and go home, I was getting into my car when I noticed a group of suits getting into their car a few spaces over. Who should it be but W and his door-openers. As I unlocked the door, I looked over the roof of my car at W, and he happened to look back at me as he was sitting down. I nodded, and started to get in my car when he stood up, shrugged off one of his door-openers, and walked around both cars to come talk to me - buttoning his suit coat as he walked over. "Hi, I'm George Bush, and I'd appreciate your vote" he said as he held out his hand. Good handshake - firm, but not one of those 'fake' handshakes you'll get from people who don't know you but want to act like your best friend. I told him he'd have my vote if he held firm with his promise to allow us Texians to carry concealed handguns. He told me he would, and we chatted for a bit and then he got back in his car and left.

I was impressed with his openness and his willingness to get out and 'meet the people' without having a photographer or video camera on hand to chronicle the event and show everyone what a good ole boy he is. Conversely, I can not imagine John Kerry or Al Gore doing the same thing, unless a camera WAS present and they could use this chance meeting as a sign that they are one of the little guys.

There are very few days that go by that I don't give thanks that W is the man, and not Algore or god forbid John Kerry. I am not a Bush sycophant, there is much about his domestic agenda that I do not agree with - but I do think he is THE man for the job today and that without him at the helm, our situation in the world would probably look nicer - as in the French and Germans and Canadians like us - but would in effect be in loads more trouble than we are now with the terrorists.

I love how the news media and the leftists just can't figure the guy out and I take great pleasure from their consternation.

Tomorrow will be a great day indeed, I am looking forward to it.

Saddam Agents, Militants Plan 'Vicious' Poll Attacks

To me, this is yet another clear sign that we are on the right track. If we were heading in the wrong direction in Iraq, the asshole terrorists would just sit back and let people vote for them. However, the fact that the tangos seem intent on deterring the election shows me that they are fearful of the results of a free election.

Kerry Criticizes Election Outcome

What a loser. Yes, I conceded the election. But I didn't lose. There was disenfranchisement, but despite my pledge to have every vote counted, I threw in the towel.

So, you have a loser, who admitted he lost, but really didn't lose and the whole reason he lost was because the other side cheated.
