Mum's the Word, Lest We Provoke a Lethal Tantrum

Brilliant!! Remember, islam is the religion of peace until you disagree with it. Then, they hack off your head.

If you mock Islam with a drawing or a novel, you get riots and dead people. News of mishandled holy books yields riots and dead people. Insufficiently reverent short films by a Dutchman yields a dead person, specifically the Dutchman.

At the risk of making a generalization: The secular right seems more tolerant of Christianity, and skeptical towards large swaths of Islam. The secular left often seems annoyed and contemptuous towards American religion -- unless the pastor on the dais insists Jesus would have been a board member of Planned Parenthood -- and oddly protective of Islam. Not because they believe in it; heavens, no. Some progressives are simply besotted by any civilization not their own.

Atomic Arabs: A Nuclear Dawn in the Gulf?

While Iran continues play a game of cat-and-mouse over its nuclear ambitions, it's Arab neighbors have recently discussed the possibility of a joint atomic energy program. This is a major shift in policy for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and the UAE - all have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and agreements banning all uranium enrichment.

Tuesday September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Talk Like A Pirate Day is today. Founded by two guys in 1995 and popularized by humorist Dave Barry's syndicated column in 2002, this bizarre occasion probably would've been a one-ff if it weren't for the Internet's appetite for ridiculous humour. The page explains how to talk like a pirate and lists pirate vocabulary.

Google plugs phishing hole

Follow up to the previous nerd story that made me look like a moron. Google fixed it:
Search giant Google confirmed the existence of the security hole in a statement posted on its blog on Friday. The company has temporarily disabled all login access to Public Service Search clients and has placed a moratorium on new sign-ups.

The Pope must die, says Muslim

Muslim outrage is so convenient. For the most part, when Muslims are perpetrating lies and violence against innocent men, women, and children, there is NO Muslim outrage. There are no protests in the street, no calls for imams to be beheaded, no insults hurled at Islam.

But the moment an Infidel dares to present even a hint of doubt to their sacred religion, all bets are off. Apparently, words of a non-Muslim are enough to justify the murders of other non-Muslims. I suppose by even writing this, I'm making myself a potential target for capital punishment.

Sure, we'll hear some well-meaning Muslim somewhere using the same boiler-plate denouncement of these protesters who are calling for the Pope to be killed. They'll say, "this is against our teachings," and basically tell the world that Islam is a good and moral religion. And for the most part, they're absolutely correct.

However, not all followers or even teachers of Islam are good and moral people. The same can be said of most world religions, including Christianity.

When Christian leaders do or teach wrong, it makes the news, and the legal system goes into action. However, when's the last time you saw a Christian blow up a marketplace full of innocent civilians because a Muslim pointed out what was wrong with Christianity?

The religion of peace. My ass.

Hugo Chavez: Theory that U.S. orchestrated Sept. 11 attacks 'not absurd'

As much as it galls me, I think we owe a debt of gratitude to the neo-Marxist pseudo-dictator Hugo Chavez, the so-called "president" of Venezuela for helping nail the lid on the coffin of one of the most ridiculous and nauseating conspiracy theories ever espoused by the far left- and right-wing nutcases. How's that, you say? Because he has suggested that he supports the theory.

Now, you and I know that the main reason he supports this theory is because of his blind hatred of President George Bush. However, in the fog of this blind rage, here's what's happened: one of the most vitriolic, feared, and hated dictators of the 21st century supports this conspiracy theory. This holds the same credence as having Fidel Castro himself make the same statement. In fact, that's pretty much what Chavez is: a mouthpiece for the Marxist leader of Cuba.

If you are one of those deranged individuals that actually believes that any of the last 3 or 4 Presidents of the United States would perpetrate a public attack on their own innocent civilians in an attempt to gain political or financial gain, then all I can do is pity you. Granted, they have ALL made mistakes (some more than others, mind you) that allowed the enemies of our Republic to perpetrate terrorist attacks on us, but remember this: we are at war with Islamic fundamentalists (whatever THAT means), and they want to kill us - men, women, children - combatants and non-combatants, and will do anything to perpetrate their mayhem and violence against a society that they simply cannot comprehend in their barbarian brains. While I hold no great love for the incursions of a Federal government on private lives, neither do I believe (nor has anyone convinced me) that they 1) would kill thousands in a staged "terrorist" attack, nor 2) do I believe our Federal government is organized enough to pull it off, keep the truth hidden from ALL sources, and sell it as a terrorist attack! Hell, Bill Clinton couldn't keep a simple BJ secret.

If you buy any of that nonsense, then by all means pay heed to Hugo Chavez. You deserve what you get.

Clinton spin machine still working

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, the Clinton spin machine is back in the forefront of our lives. It would seem they're still working on Clinton's legacy, and aren't letting the facts get in the way.

It is a fact that the Clinton administration had several shots at Bin Laden and didn't take them.

It is a fact that the Clinton administration's withdrawal from Somalia gave strength and courage to Bin Laden as the terrorists figured the American government had no stomach for a fight.

It is a fact that the Clinton administration wanted to treat terrorists as criminals, and not terrorists.

It is a fact that Sandy Berger stole National Archive documents - something that would land you and me in jail if we did the same thing.

It is a fact that the Clinton administration slashed military spending and reduced our military strength significantly.

It is a fact that the 9/11 attacks had been in the works and under planning for years - well before George Bush became President of the United States.

But, if you were to discuss these facts with the Clinton spin machine, then you're fabricating history.

I find it highly entertaining that the same people who have no problem in divulging state secrets in the New York Times have a problem with talking about the facts of the Clinton administration.

Hottest Sauces in the World

The hottest stuff I've ever personally sampled is Dave's Insanity Sauce. I touched a drop of it to my little finger, then touched my finger to my tongue. I was instantly blinded, and almost choked to death. Mind you, I put Tabasco Habanero on my eggs for breakfast, and go through a large bottle of Tabasco in about 3 weeks. I like my hot sauce. None of that candy-assed Frank's or "Louisiana" so-called "hot" sauce in my house.

Dave's Insanity Sauce isn't even on this list. Granted, Dave's Gourmet Insanity is on the list, but I reckon it's a LOT hotter.

I DARE you to try some, then let me know if you lived.

UN Declares Self Defense NOT a Human Right

H/T to Michale Bane.

And we wonder why the UN puts dicatators and thugs in charge of their human rights divisions?

Un-freaking believable.

Self-defence is sometimes designated as a “right”. There is inadequate legal support for such an interpretation. Self-defence is more properly characterized as a means of protecting the right to life and, as such, a basis for avoiding responsibility for violating the rights of another.

That's right, boys and girls. Your tax dollars are supporting an organization that gives greater rights and privleges to those who would wish you and yours dead.

No more Miller Time

Before you go buy your beer for the Labor Day Holiday, consider that Miller is financially supporting illegal immigrants. Speaking for myself, I've had my last Miller product.

Fortunately, there's plenty of other good beer to drink. H/T to Michelle Malkin. (is there anyone else out there doing a better job of documenting the ongoing illegal alien flood??)

Here's the article, I inlcuded it as it requires registration....

Why this immigrant rights march is brought to you by Miller
By Oscar AvilaTribune staff reporterPublished September 1, 2006

Marchers had to duck into fast-food restaurants for water when they first took to Chicago's streets in support of illegal immigrants five months ago. At the next two marches, family-owned grocery stores offered free bottled water from trucks emblazoned with their names. This time, as demonstrators march from Chinatown to House Speaker Dennis Hastert's (R-Ill.) Batavia office this weekend, they will have Miller Brewing Co., as a sponsor. The brewer has paid more than $30,000 for a planning convention, materials and newspaper ads publicizing the event.

The support of a major corporation for a controversial political cause shows how fierce the competition has become to woo the growing market of Latino consumers. For Miller, the march offered a special chance to catch up. This spring the brewer drew the ire of pro-immigrant forces over contributions to U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), who sponsored legislation that would crack down on illegal immigrants. That prompted a short-lived boycott by some Latino groups. Now, march advertisements feature not just the organizing committee's trademark blue globe but Miller's logo and a Spanish translation of its "Live Responsibly" slogan, a company effort to build goodwill among Latinos.

But this march is no Cinco de Mayo parade. The politically charged event will promote a controversial plan to end deportations and offer legal status for all 11 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants. That creates potential pitfalls for any businesses lending support, experts say.At the same time business sponsorships have forced activists to confront whispers that they are commercializing their movement when they accept much-needed donations."We would love to have 20 corporate logos. It doesn't mean we are selling the movement out," said Jorge Mujica, a member of the March 10 Committee. "The principles and demands remain the same. They are helping out this movement and we are happy with that."Labor unions remain the movement's backbone with four major unions bringing at least 600 marchers on buses from throughout Chicago. Religious groups have been key too. Some marchers will bed down in churches and a mosque.

But businesses have become vital to this weekend's Immigrant Workers Justice Walk, which will cover 45 miles to Hastert's district office. Hundreds of marchers plan to cover the entire span from Friday through Monday, and organizers need food and water for them.Sometimes political and commercial messages are mingled. At a July march, Chicago-based food producer V&V Supremo printed signs with its logo that urged "Moratorium Now, Legalization Yes."Jimenez Market, an area chain, had its sign on display as workers passed out more than 5,000 bottles of water and other supplies worth nearly $17,000. Co-owner Jose Perez acknowledged it is good publicity but stressed that "we are supporting our people. Without them, our business would go downhill.

"This weekend, the Los Comales restaurant plans to donate 500 tortas, Mexican sandwiches filled with steak, ham and other toppings. The Laredo Bakery is donating bread while other restaurants are donating water, fruit and other supplies, organizers said. Those businesses are natural allies--"part of the same brotherhood," as one marketer put it.But the presence of Miller at a welcoming reception the day before the Aug. 12-13 planning convention raised eyebrows.

The convention brought together labor unions, anti-war groups, immigrant service organizations and even socialist political candidates.Hours before bashing NAFTA and U.S. foreign policy, participants at the Aug. 11 reception mingled with the Miller Girls, the company's public relations ambassadors, amid a display of Miller logos. That Miller was involved in the first place is one measure of the growing power of immigrants. After the boycott announcement, the company approached march organizers to try to find common ground, and agreed to back the march organizers' efforts.

Miller is also bankrolling informational ads in Voces Migrantes, or Migrant Voices, a community newspaper in Chicago, and has promised scholarships for area Latinos.

Mathew Romero, the company's local market development manager, said Miller felt it was important to speak out against Sensenbrenner's legislation, though his campaign was one of many the company supported.Romero noted that company founder Frederick Miller was a German immigrant and many current executives are foreign nationals. Miller is now part of London-based SABMiller.

Romero said he wasn't worried that some opponents of illegal immigration would be upset at the company's support of "the free movement of people, labor, goods and services."

"As long as you are stacking facts against facts, they are free to make their own decisions. We will stand by our positions," he said.George San Jose, president of the San Jose Group, a Chicago-based marketing company specializing in the Hispanic market, said he understands why companies chase Hispanic purchasing power, which tops $700 billion annually in the U.S. Brewers, he said, have been especially aggressive.

But San Jose would advise clients that there are better ways."A company sponsoring one of the two sides of the immigration debate is no different than a company sponsoring groups for or against abortion [rights]. It's one of those heated political debates that companies should stay clear of," he said.At the request of march organizers, media executive Robert Armband sent e-mails to thousands of business contacts, asking if they would consider helping the March 10 Committee."It certainly is an opportunity to reach the masses, but it might not be the right vehicle to come out as a sponsor," said Armband, publisher and chief executive of La Raza, a Chicago newspaper.March organizers say they have not made any full-fledged sales pitches to major corporations and are having internal discussions about whether they should make a real push. That can be a tough decision, according to march organizer Gabe Gonzalez.Gonzalez said he represents those in the movement--maybe half the total, he thinks -- who don't even consider themselves capitalists. Many have been involved with labor campaigns targeting specific companies.

March organizers shot down a suggestion that they approach Coca-Cola, for example, because of what they perceive as the company's labor abuses in the developing world, a cause celebre among liberal activists.

Although immigrant activists see legalization as an issue of social justice, Gonzalez said corporations might back the idea as a way to protect their bottom line. Whatever the motivations, Gonzalez said he would cooperate with almost any company willing to back the cause."That's the nature of politics. You form coalitions based on mutual self-interest," Gonzalez said. "So will we work with corporations? We will work with anyone who will work with us."

Remember the dork who asked Miss Universe to the prom? She broke the date.
But she said she had been concerned her appearance might overshadow the event for the other students.

"I still have those concerns and it's for that reason that I contacted Daniel and asked if it would be possible to change our formal date to a lunch date instead and he agreed."
Lunch, huh? I bet I could come up with a better payback than that.

First I talk about how I dress and this
And diamond necklaces - stretch Lexuses

Call and tell him you’ll be home real late
Let’s sing the break

I understand this to be a problem with your current sexual partner. He needn’t be concerned about your whereabouts. Please phone him and inform him that you won’t be home for a while. By the way, please sing the chorus of the song for me also.

Daniel wins Miss Universe

This dorky kid asked Miss Universe to prom. And she said yes.
"When I saw the letter from Daniel, I thought "that's cute", he went to that effort and he was nice and I've never been to Bathurst," Hawkins said.

"I didn't have anything in my diary for that day and I love doing random things - and school formals rock."
I guess you don't know until you ask, huh?

Too bad the kid looks like he styles his hair by sticking his head in the toilet and flushing.

Let Me Show You How Stupid Kalifornia Is.

The lawyers in California are at it yet again.
AB 352 would “expand the definition of unsafe handgun to include semiautomatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with a microscopic array of characters, that identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol, etched into the interior surface or internal working parts of the pistol, and which are transferred by imprinting on each cartridge case when the firearm is fired.”
I'm loathe to even dignify this stupidity with commentary. However, once again, their illogic simply penalized the law-abiding citizen, and makes it easy for the criminal to circumvent. The blog that this link goes to does an admirable job of fisking this red herring, so enjoy.

Leave it to the Jarheads to come up with true entertainment: making Saddam Hussein watch Southpark: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Repeatedly.

Today's match report

Here's me ripping through a quick 16 round stage at today's DAPS match at Elm Fork.
3 targets on the left and right, close together in the shape of a pyramid, with a no shoot smack in the middle of both arrays partially covering all three targets. Two low targets were through the middle port. All targets were between 7-10 yds out.

And yes, it was still stinking hot.
Dan shooting turtles!

Dan tore up this run on some "classic" ipsc targets. (why they are called classic is beyond me...) One minor little issue at the end where he took an extra shot on a Virgina Count stage - earned him two penalties, which messed up an otherwise great run.
Dan's making the switch to shooting a real gun after ditching the drastic plastic.

Here's a story you won't see in Texas

Good God! What is wrong with the people of Olympia, Washington? I know the Pacific northwest is a liberal haven but this is way outta hand!!

It would seem the good people of Olympia are being terrorized.

Not by bears.

Not by mountain lions.

Not by wolves or coyotes.

But......

Wait for it......

raccoons!!

And to date, none of the sheeple interviewed have done anything more serious than buy mace so they can spray the cute little raccoons and get them to leave their poor little house cats alone.

The 'coons are even on a schedule:

"It's like a freeway in the back yard," she said. "It's like clockwork. They come between 9 and 9:30 every night."

Ok. Here's a newsflash to the idiots in Olympia. Go to the gun store. Buy a shotgun. Wait for the little bastards to come tramping through your backyard. Load the shotgun, point it at the raccoons in question, and pull the trigger.

Coupla nights of that and your raccoon problem will soon disappear.

Down here, we'd call that free entertainment.

Some hurricane season, eh?

Granted, we're only now getting into the 'good' part of hurricane season, but still, where are all the global warming freaks, including Al Gore and Bill Clinton who were trying to tell us all last year that global warming was causing all the extra hurricanes and that it's only going to get worse?

The slow hurricane season and the cooling sea surface temperatures might be somewhat surprising to the public. Media reports over the last year have suggested that, since global warming will only get worse, and last year's hurricane activity was supposedly due to global warming, this season might well be as bad as last season. But it appears that Mother Nature might have other plans.

Or, in other words, they don't know what they're talking about and were only pulling the crises out of their copious asses??

Dems in a state of fear

If you ask me, the constant harassment of Joe Lieberman by Howard Dean, John Kerry, etc etc is a sign they are truly afraid of his run as an independent. I mean, really, if they thought he'd lose, then just let him waste money and time and also cause the Republican candidate to spend more money and time on campaigning against two candidates instead of one. If they really think, as Kerry is saying, that the people of Connecticut have spoken and want Lieberman out, then what's there to worry about come election time?

Little ole me think the dems are scared to death of losing another seat in the Senate.

I-35 Open Again After Fire In Arbuckle Mountains

See this?
Authorities diverted traffic 20 miles east to U.S. 177, which was congested with heavy traffic. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
That was me, my son, his friend, and his father, in 4 separate vehicles, moving the boys into their apartment at OU. The other dad was driving the U-Haul truck. We moved about 20 miles in 4.5 hours. After about 4 hours, the U-Haul started spewing transmission fluid and stalling. Was it remote? Not even digital roam was available on any of our phones for most of the way. Now you know why there were no reports of injuries or damage.

It took us 7.5 hours for a 2.5 hour trip. What was the big holdup? Three cops in Sulphur, OK, directing traffic from 177 North to Highway 17 West, which led back to I-35. May those smokey-bear hat-wearing mouth-breathers rot in hell for eternity.

Another false alarm?

A few days ago, we talked about the Brits considering profiling of arabs in the ongoing war on terror.

Sadly, it doesn't appear to be the case here in the US. Don't know if you heard or not, but there was a scare at a West Virginia airport today when two bottles of some sort of liquid (didn't think you could carry liquid on a plane now??) set off the bomb sniffing dog. And, oh yeah, she's from Pakistan. However, never fear, the PC cops are here!!

In response to reporters’ questions, McKinley confirmed the woman was of Middle Eastern descent. She said the woman was not treated any differently because of her nationality.

That's a damn shame. I'll keep yelling it as loud as I can, but until we stop worrying about putting people's feelings in front of our country's national security, we're screwed.

And oh yeah, if it was me, and I was trying to blow stuff up, I do believe I'd have a lot of dry runs before hand to see just what the response was going to be. But that's just me.

The Day the King Died

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 12 years old. I was sitting on my parent's bed watching Gilligan's Island when the program was interrupted to tell the world that the King was dead. I remember becoming overcome with sadness. I sat in disbelief as tears welled up in my eyes. The King was dead.
Elvis was true greatness, and I miss him.

World's Smallest Functional Revolver

Talk about your concealed carry gun. This sucker is tiny. It fires a bullet that's a 2.34mm caliber (that's .09 inches), with a muzzle velocity of 426.5 ft/sec. The ballistics are a hoot. Looks like a maximum range of about 120 meters, and it drops below zero at about 37.5 meters. I bet it would sting, though.

Breast implants saves woman after Hezbollah attack

One Israeli woman has received an unexpected boost from her breast implants during the Lebanon war -- the silicone embeds saved her life during a Hezbollah rocket attack, a doctor said. "The young woman went through surgery two years ago to have a larger chest," he said. "During the war she was wounded in the chest by shrapnel" that got stuck in the implants instead of penetrating further.

I would like to make an honest and heartfelt plea to all you ladies out there. PLEASE think of your safety and go get breast implants. It is one way you can insure your safety during these crazy times. I would also ask that you email me with pictures of your implants so I can stop worrying about you. Before and after pictures would be good, but just before or just after will be fine, also. It really doesn't matter, just send them.
Thank you and be safe,

Let's hope England does the right thing

The Brits are actually thinking about profiling muslims. I hope they do it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Until we get over our squeamish-ness about potentially insulting people, we're going to lose the war.

You know what you say to an "innocent" muslim that you search before he or she gets on a plane or other method of public transportation? "I'm sorry for taking up some of your time. Have a nice flight." But, let's say you actually stop someone from blowing up an airplane because you did the right thing and profiled them? How many Scandinavian grandmas do we have to watch get stopped at the security checkpoints while the persian in the flowing robes walks right by before we wise up?

Ask any cop - profiling works.

However, the highest ranking muslim policeman in Britain has given warning that:

profiling techniques based on physical appearance were already causing anger and mistrust among young Muslims. Tarique Ghaffur, an assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said: “We must think long and hard about the causal factors of anger and resentment.

Let's think about that statement, shall we?? Basically what he's saying is that if the muslim community thinks they're getting the shaft, there will be riots, problems, etc etc etc. How asinine of a statement is that? I mean, really, let's substitute any other religious group for muslims and can you see that group rioting in the streets because they feel they're being discriminated against? I mean, really, if someone will riot, burn, loot, and kill people over a cartoon - who's to say what they'll do if they get profiled??

How about this? I'll be insulted, and severely mistrust the TSA if I'm pulled over to get checked out while the arab behind me does not. You don't see a lot of people worried about hurting my feelings, do you?

It's insanity.

There is No Clash of Civilizations...

You may have already seen this clip, but I just did after someone pointed it out to me. It's brilliant. I'd love to see the whole thing unedited, because this woman hits the nail squarely on the head.
It is a clash between two opposites, between two eras. It is a clash between a mentality that belongs to the Middle Ages and another mentality that belongs to the 21st century. It is a clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality. It is a clash between freedom and oppression, between democracy and dictatorship. It is a clash between human rights, on the one hand, and the violation of these rights, on other hand. It is a clash between those who treat women like beasts, and those who treat them like human beings. What we see today is not a clash of civilizations. Civilizations do not clash, but compete.
There's a brief appearance of some imam-looking guy who falls back to his dogma, and she sets him straight, but pronto. Watch it.

Four penguins die after truck carrying Indy Zoo birds crashes

Awww. The cute penguins got killed near Marshall.
Four penguins traveling from the Indianapolis Zoo to a zoo in Texas died Tuesday in a truck accident. Two zoo employees suffered minor injuries when the truck overturned on a highway near Marshall in east Texas.
Oh, yeah - there were people injured, too. They don't say where it happened, but I'm guessing it was I-20, where there are more morons per mile than should be allowed. Slow down, people - save the penguins.

Save the jokes on how they blew a seal, k? BTW, with a little marinade, I hear they taste like chicken.

Reuters withdraws all photos by Lebanese freelance

After finding that two photographs that were posted by a Lebanese photographer that put the terrorists in a positive light and the Israelis in a negative light, Reuters pulls every photograph in its database by this so called "photo journalist".

Good for them - I think that's a step in the right direction. It's also called closing the barn door after the horse got out.

The one burning question that I have after learning of this is simple:

Has the news media been manipulating doctored photographs forever, all the while claiming they are "objective"? Is this a case that they are only now getting caught?

I mean, think of the impact that famous photographs have had on the national conscience. Think of the photographs that turned the American people against the war in Vietnam. How many of them were doctored to give a particular spin?

More and more the media needs to be put back in its place because what I know now is that they are failing us terribly.

Texas School District Bans Cleavage

"It's gotten bad enough that, unfortunately, our young males are looking at more than their English book, their speech book, their science book," says school board president Sherri Wade. "And it's kind of nice to have something left to the imagination."
So, by this logic, we could get males to pay more attention to their books if they had boobies in them? Wait a minute - I think I see what's going on here...
While most parents support the new rule, some worry that enforcing it could be a challenge. "I think that's going to be a little tricky, because it puts a little bit of a policeman approach to the educators, and they really need to focus more on teaching," said Tom Pederson, AISD parent.
So we're encouraging the faculty to look at cleavage, but discouraging students from it? Sounds like trouble to me, based on the number of teachers being brought up on sex charges these days. Maybe it's not the kids that are the problem?

Qana?

I'm sure you've all heard, read, or seen reports about the tradgedy in Qana as part of the ongoing Israeli ass-kicking offensive against the terrorists.

I've heard rumors that the whole thing was staged by the terrorists, who have not been above using their own kids and families to get at the infidel in the past.

These pictures, in my opinion, go a long way towards verifying the whole thing was a sham put on by Hezbollah. Make up your own mind, but beware, the pictures are graphic and show images of dead children.

Wheelchair Assault

Yet another reason I'm glad I'm not a cop. I don't know that I could have taken this report without laughing my ass off..... From the Denton Record Chronicle (registration required, so I copied it for your convenience.)

Retirement home resident reports wheelchair assault
07:16 AM CDT on Friday, July 28, 2006

Staff report

A 72-year-old woman told police Wednesday that another elderly woman rammed her several times with a wheelchair. The victim said she walked out to the mailboxes of her retirement center in the 300 block of Coronado Street to pick up her mail and also collect mail for another resident. The other woman rolled up in her electric wheelchair and told her to get out of her way, the victim said. She told the woman she would move as soon as she collected her friend's mail. The other woman powered up the wheelchair and rammed into her, she said. Then she backed up and rammed her twice more. The victim told her to stop and an argument ensued. The victim turned the suspect's wheelchair in a different direction to avoid being struck again, but the suspect turned it around and hit her one more time. This assault occurred a few months ago but she waited to file a police report, hoping to settle the problem through the retirement community, but had no success, she said.

I hate spammers. I hate their every incarnation. Today, I'm hating one in particular, because he's invaded one of our Yahoo Groups to advertise his world-record attempts. What's he attempting, you ask? Hot-dog eating? High-jumps? Having 70 virgins slap his ass non-stop for 12 hours? No.
Now i am preparing for next world record of 101 hours marathon typing on a computer on 10 august 2006 in lal bahadur indoor stadium.
Seriously, who gives a red monkey butt about that? He's that kid who goes to jump off the diving board and screams, "hey, MOM! Lookit ME! Lookit ME, MOM!!," until everyone in the pool yells at the mother to "LOOK at him, before we all KILL him!" He's not even trying to sell me anything (oh, wait - need to buy some insurance?), but he's asking me to validate his paper-rocket-making, marathon-typing life?

And don't get me started on all the other email spam I get. Apparently, it's no longer enough to get English-language crap, but now I'm getting Spanish, Russian, and Thai(!) spam, written in the native gibberish that I've no desire to even attempt to decipher. 'Disabled' fans ejected for dancing

At first I thought this was just another funny headline, but it gets better.
Three Argentinian football fans were thrown out of their team's World Cup clash with Holland for pretending to be disabled. The fans bought wheelchairs and then bought special cheap tickets reserved for disabled fans to get into the match. But their ruse was discovered when one of the trio got carried away by the game and started jumping up and down.

That's genius, but the funniest thing is this...
"Our friend couldn't stop jumping and a person near us thought there was a miracle happening."

Men Assume Sexual Interest When There May Be None

Here's an article that I'm sure the ladies here will get a kick out of, whereas I think it's a lesson in overtly obvious over-generalization, based on social norms established by one's environment. More succinctly, it's a bunch of plain-as-the-nose-on-your-face BS. Who gets paid to say crap like this?
Levesque doesn't know why all the men in the study seemed to over-sexualize women, but he speculated that "it's got to be something about socialization, that men are being taught in some way to view women as sexual objects."
Well, I think that's mostly a load of crap. It might be that some men have a somewhat inflated self-image, sure. Or is it that men tend to be horn-dogs?
"If he found her to be physically attractive, he would tend to rate her as sexier," he said, adding that other studies have found the same over-sexualization effect and that men give physically attractive women higher marks for sexiness.
Oh, wait. Maybe, just maybe, it's because some men think of sex more than women.

I've got only this to say:

Euro Trip; part II

Leaving Athens we were greeted with yet another fantastic sunset.

It was easy to picture in my mind the great battle that took place in and around these waters - in the straits between Salamis and Piraeus - in 480 BC. In the first great defeat of Xerxes' Persian Empire, the Athenian navy defeated a significantly larger Persian fleet; setting the stage for the major land battle at Plataea where a large force of Spartans, Athenians and other Greek states annihilated the Persian army. But... I digress. Considering that the Battle of Salamis has been called by many historians as the most important battle in western civilization, I'm sure you can understand the awe I had for those waters.

After an overnight cruise to the island of Mykonos, we debarked and set out on a tour around the island. The main town on the island was also called Mykonos; and it was a fantastic little town right on the water with an ancient port.

They said the streets of the city were deliberately twisty, narrow and meandering on purpose, to get the occasional raiders lost and confused. Regardless of the reason, the streets and alleys were quiet pleasant, and very pleasing to walk around.

Mykonos is well known for its churches(Greek Orthodox), of which there were many. All of them were pretty tiny, with space for a congregation of only 20 or so people.

We took a quick boat ride to the island of Delos. Words honestly cannot describe the awe I felt there. Delos was a sacred island before the Greeks created their system of gods and goddesses. For the Greeks, they claimed their god of the sun - Apollo - was born on that island; in addition, other cultures also built temples there - the Egyptians built a temple to Isis as well, you can see it in the valley in the center of the hills here.

It was simply boggling to my mind to be walking on a street that someone else was walking on over 2000 years ago.

Simply boggling.

Man shot during robbery, police say

The sheer karmic beauty of this story leaves me breathless.
A man who tried to rob a Greenfield gun shop at knifepoint Thursday afternoon was shot in the chest by the shop owner, police said.
Imagine, if you will, what must have been going through a person's mind that led to this act of lunacy. "I have a knife, and I'm going to rob a gun store." Good plan. Only one problem: there are guns in gun stores, and gun store owners usually carry guns.
He said the store owner, 44, shot the man once in the chest and that apparently no one else was inside the store when the shooting took place. The store owner was not injured.
A Darwin Award nominee, for sure.

Euro Trip; part I

Last week I was able to take a fantastic European vacation. My wife, father, stepmother and little brother took a cruise to the cradle of western civilization; leaving from Venice and sailing to Athens and a couple of small Greek islands; hitting Dubrovnik and then finishing up with a full day in Venice. It was simply magnificent!!

I didn't have a bad meal on the trip, was able to see some absolutely fantastic sights, and met a lot of nice folks; except of course, for the Frogs. It was nice to see that the ugly American has been replaced by the ugly Frenchman - who was universally despised by everyone.

Our first stop on the trip was to Athens. What can you say? Athens is the cradle of western democracy, philosophy, architecture and so on and so on. I think what stunned me more than anything else is that there I was, walking around where only a few thousand years ago people like Aristotle, Socrates, Alcibiades, Xenophon and practically anyone else from classical history walked and lived their lives. It was, frankly, humbling. What visit to Athens would be complete without seeing the Parthenon, the temple to the Greek god Athena on top of the Acropolis?

It was funny to learn that the temple was built in about 9 years time - but the Greeks have been trying to restore it for the last 20-25 years or so!!
A short distance away from the base of the Acropolis was a temple to Zeus - you could clearly see the temple from the top of the Acropolis and vice versa. Stunning. Simply stunning.

We then piled into our guide’s van and headed over to the main Greek museum in Athens. Again, all I can say is, wow. Agamemnon’s mask was there (although it couldn’t possibly have been Agamemnon, but the name given to it originally when it was discovered stuck…)

There were hundreds of statues there, and let’s just put it this way - all the stuff that you see in art books or history books - was in this museum. I am not what I would consider to be an artsy person but I was simply overwhelmed.

We concluded our day in the Plaka - a huge shopping and eating area that is among the oldest places in Athens. It’s here that I had probably the best meal on the trip - a gyro sandwich with traditional pita bread and shredded pork - but what made this gyro so damn good was the Tzatziki sauce, which is made from yogurt, spices, and sliced cucumbers. This Tzatziki sauce was completely different, and had some mustard in it, not to mention being a little sweet.

Next stop, Mykonos!

Garage door remote triggers man's erection

Seeing how I am usually hornier than a three peckered billy goat, a strong breeze might do it for me sometime, but never a garage door opener.

An anonymous Merseyside man who had an implant to "help with erection problems" has found he becomes uncontrollably aroused every time his neighbour pulls up in his 4X4, the Scottish Daily Record reports. "It's not funny for me, when I can't leave the house because I'm walking around with a big erection. "

Deputies terminated after scandalous acts

I always thought the living was easier in places like Bandera, TX. Apparently, more than the living is easy.
Deputy Amy Price was relieved of her duties June 27, following a complaint filed against her by Bandera County resident Brett Day. On June 25, Day arrived at his Lakehills home to find his wife, sheriff's dispatcher Kimberly Day, hosting a gathering-of-sorts with sheriff's deputy David Moore, Price, another sheriff's dispatcher and her husband, and Texas Ranger Lance Coleman.
I'm guesssing it wasn't a Tupperware party.
According to Chief Deputy Don Berger, Day found his wife in a "compromising position" with another individual present. After taking photographs, a disturbance reportedly broke out between Brett and Kimberly Day, Moore and Price. Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call issued by Day at approximately 2:30 a.m.
Okay, maybe they were playing Twister.

The Great John Daly

JR's post on Wie got me thinking about the well conditioned golfer. Sure, there are some, but give me the John Dalys of the world to root for.
This is a man with natural ability who truly doesn't care about anything but doing what he enjoys, like drinking, playing golf, gambling, and eating. The Great John Daly has won two Majors. The first one he showed up in a Buick station wagon with a girl he barely knew and had an extreme hangover. He won it. He also won the British Open played at the goat range known as St. Andrews.
I love this picture of him. He is sporting a massive hangover (over his belt), he is sponsored by 84 Lumber, and has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Heat exhaustion forces Wie to withdraw from Deere Classic

Michelle Wie may be hot, but she can't take the heat.
The temperature Friday afternoon was 88, with the sun and humidity making it feel as if it was five degrees warmer. Wie teed off shortly before 2 p.m. CDT, and was looking listless by the time she approached the fifth green. She sat on her bag with her head bowed, a towel to her face, until it was her turn to putt.
Gee, you'd think she was a teenage girl with that kind of drama. Oh, yeah.

As I type this, it's 86 degrees outside, with 62% humidity - that's a temperature/humidity index of 91 degrees. I just ran 3 miles, and I'm OLD. It'll be 101 here in North Texas today.

Nation's Capital Declares Crime Emergency

Two groups of tourists were robbed at gunpoint on the National Mall, just hours after the police chief declared a crime emergency in the city in response to a string of violence that included the killing of a British activist.
But...but...
On Tuesday night, two women from Texas were robbed at gunpoint by two men dressed in all black, said U.S. Park Police Sgt. Scott Fear. About 15 minutes later, a family of four from Missouri was robbed by suspects with the same description, he said.
This can't be! Guns are illegal in Washington, D.C.! How can crime be increasing?
Robberies are up 14 percent, and armed assaults have jumped 18 percent in the past 30 days.
I guess I'm just not as smart as the politicians who banned guns in D.C. I know I'm just a common citizen, and I know they're elected officials that represent their constituency, but damned if I can see the sense in this whole situation.
