28 Years Gone

It was 28 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting on the edge of my parents bed watching Gilligan's Island when it was interrupted by a news bulletin that announce "The King is dead". I was young, but I realized the magnitude of the loss of this cultural icon. It wasn't until my later years I learned to truly appreciate his music. I embraced the power of "E" and extolled his greatness. My motorcycle roadrace endurance team was named "Takin' Care of Business" and we had "TCB" and the lightening bolt my race bikes. I've toured Graceland and gone through his jet, the Lisa Marie. I've sang Elvis songs until my voice was gone. I've seen Johnny Harrah, the worlds greatest Elvis Impersonator 5 times. He starred in the Elvis documentary titled "This is Elvis". It's as close to the real thing as I could get. I still have the Velvet Elvis that I bought at the big flea market in Sweetwater during the annual Rattle Snake Roundup. It graced the walls of my bachelor pad, for oh so many years. Today It hangs over our clothes dryer in the garage. That's as close as my wife would let it get to the inside of our house.
Elvis died on the toilet. Some think that is embarrassing or even disgraceful, but I disagree. Elvis was the coolest man to ever live. I think He probably knew that your body voids all waste when you die, so knowing it was his time, he went and sat on the toilet.
I'll be wearing a black arm band today, and I'll be listening to Elvis CD's, and when I sit on the toilet, I'll hold a kind thought for E. I hope you will too.
Thank you Elvis, Thank you very much.

Officer Tackles Suspect After Taser Gun Fails

New Scientist Breaking News - Erotic images can turn you blind

Dang. Guess Mom was right...

Cindy Sheehan is a Nut

Hey, don't take my word for it. She's doing a fine job herself.
My son was killed in 2004. I am not paying my taxes for 2004. You killed my son, George Bush, and I don't owe you a penny...you give my son back and I'll pay my taxes. Come after me (for back taxes) and we'll put this war on trial.
Looks like the political gloves are coming off. About time. Now we can all see the political puppetry going on here. Looks like Ms. Sheehan is being manipulated and aided by every left-wing nutjob cause in America, and she's buying it hook, line, and sinker.

Go home, lady.

U.S. Struggling to Get Soldiers Improved Armor - New York Times

I think the Times should just go ahead and begin calling themselves the American version of al-jazeera.

They'll print, in detail, of the failures. Fine. I've got no problem with telling it all, the good, the bad and the ugly.

They ignore, in deafening silence, the victories. Typical.

I'm sure most of us remember not too long ago the story of the young trooper whose life was saved by his body armor, caught on video by the shooter.

I don't seem to recall either seeing the video, reading the story, or reading the letter that the soldier wrote describing the incident, and how the armor saved his life.

I guess it's easier to find fault than give credit to anything that happens during this administration's time in office.

I also don't remember seeing the Times criticize President Clinton for not supplying armor to the Rangers killed in Somalia, even though they were begging for it.

The New York Times sucks.

Police Seek Suspect in Bizarre Internet Sex Case

What would you do if you found a naked 25-year-old man under your 13-year-old daughter's bed?
According to the incident report, the victim's father called Lawrence police, but only after conducting his own "interrogation" of the suspect.
"Yeah, he pulled him out, and had a 'chat' with him. That's what he told us," said Robert Bowser, Lawrence Police Department.
Yeah, me too.

AOL's love fest with Ms. Sheehan

Ok, DC got me thinking about the war and its multiple fronts. I decided to stop being quiet and sent a little love note to AOL. I'll be interested to see what sort of response I receive. Thanks DC, I think my congressfolks are going to get a similar letter soon. The war rages on....

To whom it may concern:

I am deeply troubled by the choice that AOL News has made in giving Ms. Cindy Sheehan any airtime whatsoever. She is strongly featured in the article "A mother's protest", and there is little or no opportunity for the full story to be told. You have a brief quote from Drudge, but you make no space available for the story from her hometown paper which was published shortly after her visit with the President last year. That story completely contradicts her statements today. You also do not include the letter written today from the rest of her family, urging her to end her protest, and giving their continued support to the President and the troops.

This particular story troubles me because I'm becoming more and more aware that the war is not only being fought overseas. It is also being fought here in this country and in my opinion, stories focusing on people like Ms. Sheehan are undermining the war effort. Period. I have also noticed that as of late, there has been little to no stories making the front pages of your news that talk about the successes and victories of our troops overseas, but there are plenty of stories focusing on the deaths of our troops. Why is that? I urge you to visit Michael Yon's blog to read current dispatches from the front. His work is unbiased, and it is excellent. And it also tells the complete story of the unit he is with - the good, the bad, and the ugly, and not just the company line that you are currently repeating from the bulk of the mainstream media. Reading the majority of the stories that you CHOOSE to publish, one can not help but think the troops are losing the war and I know that is simply not the truth.

So, here's my offer to you. I've been a subscriber for years to AOL. If I don't see any changes in the way in which you present your stories, particularly those that focus on the ongoing war, then I'm jumping ship and will go to another ISP. I simply refuse to spend any of my money with an organization that is as biased as yours appears to be in its presentation of the war.

I realize that my 20 something dollars a month likely means nothing to you, but it means something to me, and that's all that matters.

More on Cindy Sheehan

Doing a little more digging on Ms. Sheehan, it becomes more and more pathetic.
From the Huffington Blog, featuring Ms. Sheehan herself:

"It’s ironic, given the attacks leveled at me recently, how some in the media are so quick to scrutinize -- and distort -- the words and actions of a grieving mother but not the words and actions of the president of the United States."

Ok, I'll call bullshit. What attacks exactly? People have used your own words and your own statements to further explain your position. It just so happens that everything you say makes you look like a total idiot. Pointing out the truth, using your own words, now constitutes an attack.

"When my son was killed, I had to face the fact that I was somehow also responsible for what happened."

I wonder - are the people that pointed their weapons at your son and killed him responsible in any way? Or are they somehow let off the hook?

"As for people like O’Reilly and Hannity and Michelle Malkin and Rush Limbaugh and all the others who are attacking me and parroting the administration line that we must complete the mission there -- they don’t have one thing at stake."

I listened to Hannity this week since this story broke, and I have yet to hear him attack you. I read Michelle's blog tonight, and have yet to see her attack you. What they are doing is pointing out your own inconsistencies. What they are doing is pointing out the lunatics that you have chosen to associate with. I've also noticed that you've done nothing to refute your earlier statements, nor have you refuted the statement that was published by your family today condemning your actions.

The more I read and learn about you, the more that I am disgusted by your attempts to use your son's death to attempt to push your own liberal viewpoints, because that's all you're doing. And it's embarrassing.

Israeli hawks circle Iran's N-plants

My eyes would surely not shed a tear if Israel took out Iran's nuclear capability. What sane person could blame em?

Good ole Cindy Sheehan

I've been fairly quiet on this rabid woman as I think that she's had a right, given to her through the loss of her son, to vent her displeasure.

It's gone way beyond that. Any sympathy I had for her over the weekend for her loss has disappeared, and rather quickly at that.

Never mind the fact that she's changed her tune. (check out Michele Malkin's site for excellent up to date information) Shortly after her meeting with the President after her son's death, she referred to the meeting as uplifting and meaningful. Today, she says Bush didn't take it seriously and was joking and laughing as if it was not a somber occasion.

Never mind the fact that her family would like her to shut her pie hole:
(from Drudge)
"In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins."

I'll go ahead and say it - this woman is an idiot, in fact, in the bad old days, she would have been called a useful idiot. But she's still an idiot and needs to shut her pie hole. It's now falling into the category of giving aid and comfort to the enemy and when you take a look at the scumbags she's now associating with, I'm thinking that's not far from the truth.

You say you don't believe that government can get too big, too intrusive? Sure, it's a voluntary effort now, but how long before it becomes policy?

What business does any government, much less a city government, have in dictating how food is cooked. Granted, if they're cooking in rat poison, that's one thing. But we're talking about margarines and frying oils here.

Obviously, New Yorkers are so stupid, they need their government to intervene on their behalf.

Still waiting

For someone in the MSM to jump on the Air America fiasco. I'm sure, as Michelle Malkin has pointed out, that we won't hear a peep until the day Air America goes completely under, and then it'll just be a RIP report.

Officials Monitored Hijackers Before 9/11 Attacks

You know, the libs are constantly saying that the chickens are now coming home to roost, that we are only reaping what was sown by previous administrations in our current war against the terror mongers.

Well, I hate to agree with them, but they are right. We are reaping what was sown by Bill Clinton, in every respect. Every time Bill tucked tail and ran from the terrorists, they gained strength. Now we come to find out that during Bill Clinton's time in the White House, several of the 9/11 terrorists were identified by the military and the military attempted to get the FBI to roll them up. But, thanks to "the wall" erected by Jamie Gorelick, the information could not be acted upon, and after all - the terrorists had green cards and we wouldn't want to invade their civil liberties.

"Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the Sept. 11 commission (search) looked into the matter during its investigation into government missteps leading to the attacks and chose not to include it in the final report."

I'm sure the fact that Jamie "the wall" was on the 9/11 commission had nothing to do with it.

Brittney Spears IS fat!

No comment required. I wonder if the Tattler will get the same number of hits from this report? :0

Nice to see a police department with a practical attitude. Actually, most of the PDs around here are Glock-oriented. 60,000 rounds is a nice, conservative estimate. Heck, I'd pay a good price with one that only had that many rounds. I think my 17 has around 100,000 rounds by now, and I've never even replaced the springs on it. I think my mags need some, though.

Air America fiasco

The silence is deafening. There's been a story brewing quietly under the radar concerning the left's last great hope in Air America. Short of some paltry coverage in the New York media, and a brief spot on CNN where the bulk of the time was spent trying to discredit the blogosphere's coverage of this fiasco, it's been damn quiet out there.

In case you haven't heard, and I'm betting your chances are pretty good you haven't:

"The Bronx News has learned, through informed sources, that the diversion of hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club in Co-op City to the liberal Air America Radio is at the center of the city’s probe of corruption at the local club.

The money, which was reportedly paid to Air America as a loan, was supposed to be paid back with interest, two unidentified informed sources told the News. One source added that Air America officials, led by an official of the Gloria Wise Club, agreed to help the local club by publicizing its activities.

To date, no indictments have been handed down in the New York City Department of Investigation’s ongoing probe of the Gloria Wise Club’s reported transfer of funds to Air America."

Now, considering that Rush has been getting the anal exam for his drug addiction I find it odd that good ole Air America "borrowing" money from the Boys and Girls club is a non-story. But oh yeah, I forget, there's no bias, right?

Two South Texas schools called "persistently dangerous"

But they have lots of sunshine there in South Texas.
Under federal guidelines, the Texas Education Agency must designate a school as persistently dangerous if it reported three or more mandatory expulsion incidents per one-thousand students in each of the previous three years.

Those incidents include the use or possession of a weapon on campus, arson, murder, sex crimes, aggravated assaults and felony drug and alcohol violations.

The schools are the W-A Todd Ninth Grade Campus in the Donna Independent School District and United South High School in Laredo's United Independent School District.

Springfield XD

I picked up a new carry gun a few weeks ago and thought I'd give a little report.

I've fired about 500 or so rounds through it and so far I'm pretty impressed. No jams or hang ups whatsoever. Considering the sights are pretty weak and not the usual Heinie's that I'm used to and they're 3 dots, which I hate - it's pretty accurate. Recoil about what you'd expect from a dinky 9mm - pretty mild.

I've yet to clean it, and I'll shoot her without cleaning till she pukes - and at current rates, that's going to be awhile.

Some high points - this weapon points naturally just like my beloved 1911s/2011s. Much unlike the Glocks which I always seem to be pointing a tad low with a natural point of aim. Breakdown is easier than a Glock, and you don't have to worry about holding your mouth just right to get the slide off the frame. Reloads with the XD also are a lot easier than with a Glock - the inside of the mag well has got nothing in there to catch your mag, unlike a Glock.

The trigger is similar to a Glock, in that it's got a pretty long pull. Unlike a Glock, the break of the trigger is pretty clean and not mushy at all.

All things said and done, I'm pretty happy with it!! I would have to say that this is the first pistol I've seen (so far) that can rival the Glocks for reliability, ease of operation, and cost.

REPORTER VOWS TO 'KILL SELF' IF CHENEY RUNS FOR PRESIDENT

Veteran wire reporter Helen Thomas is vowing to 'kill herself' if Dick Cheney announces he is running for president.

The newspaper HILL first reported the startling claim on Thursday.

"The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I'll kill myself," she told the HILL. "All we need is one more liar."

Police Blotter

Honest folks. I couldn't make this stuff up.

"Instead, still holding the phone to his ear, the man turned and ran. The officer could hear the man yelling, “Mom, mom! They’re going to shoot me!” The man slipped on the wet pavement and fell down, still shouting to his mother on the phone. The officer took the phone and explained to the woman that her son was not being shot and that he could call her later from jail."

I'm sure the officers involved weren't laughing their asses off after this arrest.

And this description of a con man is classic:
" He described the suspect as “a big, fat, cross-eyed white guy with gray hair.”

WorldNetDaily: Will we defend ourselves?

Walter Williams is a pretty smart cookie:

"Regardless of how we feel now about the treatment of terrorists, and suspected terrorists, I can envision a day when Americans will care less about interrogation techniques used in the quest to get intelligence about terrorists. That day will be when there's a chemical or biological attack in one of our cities that kills and injures tens of thousands of Americans. If that day ever comes, you can bet the rent money that the Dick Durbins, the Nancy Pelosis and others who've undermined and attacked our interrogation efforts, complaining about our not treating international cutthroats humanely, will blame the attack on President Bush. The last thing they'll do is blame themselves for sabotaging our efforts to get intelligence that might stymie terrorist plans."

Jerusalem Post | Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World

On the surface, this is starting to look like either a tragic accident or Darwin at work. The man killed by the police was seen leaving a suspected terrorist 'hideout'. He was wearing a thick coat in the middle of the summer. And he ran from the police into the subway system. The police "may" have screwed up. I think the jury is still out and we should wait for all the facts to emerge. But I don't think the dead guy did everything in his power to stay alive - like not run from the cops. Note to British Muslims: maybe when the cops give you a hard look, or ask you to stop and be searched you should comply if you want to get home to momma.

And again, the local muslim spokesman does nothing but whine about "poor pitiful me", and just can't seem to understand why anyone would look suspiciosly at someone who looked like he was from the middle east. I mean, really. Why would anyone look suspiciously at a group of people (young arabic men) when all they have done is bomb a bunch of buildings, planes, trains, automobiles and schools up in the last couple of years.

I heard ex New York police commissioner Kerek (sp?) today on the radio trying to explain that we're not 'racially' profiling - we're 'criminally' profiling. And guess what? Young to middle aged middle eastern men fit the profile.

I Understand Why

While I was driving through East Texas today, I was reminded of the black man that was chained to the back of a pick up and dragged to death in Jasper a few years back. It got me thinking of other violent acts against blacks that some say were racially motivated . After much thought I have concluded that these people have brought the attacks upon themselves. That's right, I said it. They had it coming. I'm not saying I agree with the attacks, I am just saying I think I understand them. Blacks dress disrespectfully with their pants pulled down showing their drawers. When they talk they use a dialect that is almost impossible to understand, and also use filthy language. They listen to music that degrades women and promotes violence and other behavior that is unacceptable in our society. They have also moved into our neighborhoods and occupy them. It's their culture that is to blame and the reason the attackers hate them. Taking all this into consideration it is no wonder why a group of people are attacking them every chance they get. Like I said, I don't condone it, but I am trying to understand it. After all, they themselves are to blame for the whirlwind which they now reap.
Does this sound absurd? Did you find it objectionable? I do and you should. It should also infuriate you when you hear the America hating, scumbag, maggot infested, dope smoking, hippie trash, or the Europeans, or Muslims that say the same thing when they are talking about their understanding of the terrorists and why they want to kill us.

Jane Fonda to Oppose Iraq War on Bus Tour

Title should read:
"Hanoi Jane at it again."

Story should read:
"Not content with being despised, loathed and spat upon by those who served in the Vietnam war, Hanoi Jane has taken it upon herself to be despised, loathed and spat upon by the current crop of heroes who are at this moment protecting Ms. Hanoi from islamists who would like nothing more than to cut off her head with a dull spoon. Ms. Hanoi plans to take a trip to the middle east to meet with the islamists in the mountains of Afghanistan to show her support for the oppressed indigenous people of the region. When asked if she'll cover her face and otherwise act in accordance with islamic law, Ms. Hanoi expressed surprise and stated that she was going to show up in full Barbarella attire. It will be interesting to see if she survives the trip, or if she can take another set of photo ops in anti-aircraft or perhaps this time inside a car rigged up to be a car bomb."

What a bitch. You'll note in the brief story that this is all about Ms. Hanoi. She could care less about our troops overseas or the fact that this war was brought to us.

Good Evening, and Welcome to Day 3

It was a nice day in DC today. A little muggy, no rain, plenty of sunshine. Not that I got to see any of it, but still appreciated. Long day, too. Started at 8am, just got back to the room about 10:30pm. We're doing a business simulation that pits teams against each other. We have to model a business based on everything from financials to sales force to manufacturing and everything else, and the information that we put into the model gets fed into a simulator. Tomorrow morning, we get to see how smart we are after 1 year. Then, we tweak the model, and simulate years 2 and 3. I was elected CEO of our fake company, which means I can play golf, and look good in front of the press while everyone else works. It's good to be the king.

Tomorrow starts at 7:30am, finishes at 7pm, then we have karaoke night at the Black Olive. woo hoo.

Gonna crash now. G'night.

Day 2 In Old Virginny

Yeah, so I didn't sleep so well last night. Turns out the AC works really well. I know that because of the frost. Thursday promises to be 101 degrees with 79% humidity. New Orleans isn't even that bad. WTF?

Nonetheless, the classroom was okay today. Lots of free snacks (spring rolls, granola bars, raisins, gummy bears) and coffee, juice, and fruit. Not enough coffee, because the classes go from 8am to 6pm. Ugh.

We had pretty much the whole class in the bar tonight, and had a pretty good pool tournament going. I lost track of who was buying beer. I bought a pitcher, but there were about 20 others. Only had my ass grabbed a couple of times, and I'm thinking it was girls, but I can't be for sure.

Eastern time sucks. Peace on you all. Good night.

Homo up for new challenge

Poor guy.

Colgate day 2 nixed by ‘number two’

An unpleasant mess forced a one-day break in this weekend’s annual Colgate Summer Classic at the Melvin Ford Aquatic Center swimming pool at Memorial Park.

...feces was found in the pool early Saturday morning. "We were here and all of a sudden one of my swimmers said ‘What’s that?’" It wasn’t just a little bit, it was a lot, "Duwel said." I’m not going to go into details but it was a huge mess. "

"It’s happened before — sometimes a little kid will crap in the pool or something, "Duwel said."

"Look Ma, there's somethin' floatin' in the cement pond!"

NRA Pulls Convention Out of Columbus, Ohio

Excellent. This is how you hurt the anti-gunners. Let them know there are consequences for their idiotic actions. When the CHL law first passed here and Texas, and there was all sorts of talk about blood flowing freely in the streets, many local businesses decided they'd post notice that CHL holders and their weapons were not welcome. Many of us began carrying little biz cards that politely said that since our weapons were not welcome in their stores, we would not be spending any money with them. You'd be surprised how many of the stores pulled their notices down within a very short period of time.

The City Council in Columbus has now lost the tax revenue from 60,000 visitors to their fair city. I also have a trip this fall that was going to take me through Columbus. The City Council can now not count on collecting any tax dollars from me either as I've decided I'm going a different route. Piss on em.

Tancredo: If They Nuke Us, Bomb Mecca

You betcha. All's fair in love and war.

Of course, the hit on Tancredo has already started by the CIAR crowd as expected but I still think something like this is worth considering. The mullahs and islamic leaders need to understand that the islamofascists are not just our problem, but their problem as well. I am buoyed to see many of the 'moderate' muslim clerics in Europe denouncing terror and terrorists and can only hope that they rein in their problem children.

Blogging from the...South?

I'm trapped in a very small dorm-style room at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia. I'm here for a week-long training program for corporate managers for my corporate corporation. It's very...different. The NCC is a nice enough place, but I'm essentially trapped in the "compound," unless I want a shuttle to the outlet malls just outside Dulles airport. I don't. Great food, long days, and nothing to do basically describe the existence here. My room has approximately 80 square feet of luxurious living space, resplendent with 12 channels of cable TV, poorly running water, and crappy air conditioning. But the good news is that it's 94 degrees with 89% humidity, placing the temperature/humidity index somewhere around 153 degrees or so. I didn't know I had sweat glands in my ass.

More updates as the week passes.

Soldier survives attack; captures, medically treats sniper (Video)

You want to know why we're going to win the war on terrorism? Because of guys like this. WE are the GOOD GUYS. THEY are the BAD GUYS. These cowards deserve to die like dogs, but we don't stoop to their level.

Watch the video. In case you don't understand what that pork-eating SOB is saying, it's "God is Great (Allah, Hu Akbar)" over and over again. He's praising his alleged "god" for his cowardly act. On OUR side of the fence, this American soldier not only captures this turd, but TREATS him for his wounds.

Blogger Blues...

For all 3 of our regular readers, I'd like to explain why the Tattler's been exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

I was the first kid in my neighborhood to get Verizon FiOS Service (that's fiber optic service for the uninitiated), which was an upgrade from my DSL service. An upgrade except for one thing: I had some extra disk space that I had purchased for use by this blog. I store this blog on my Verizon web space, see? When DSL was turned off, the extra space went away. After talking to the droids at Verizon, I figured that all out, and then bought some additional disk space.

Meantime, Blogger has been having database issues. Some days you just can't win.

Hang in there - we'll be back to abnormal any time now.

Deerfield apologizes for July 4 show gaffe

Note to these idiot officials:

We're at war.

With terrorists.

Who follow the same leader and mindset as the one that killed 3,000 people on 9/11.

It sounds to me like these idiots were in need of some remembering about just why we're fighting this war.

ABC News: California Guard Criticized Over Poster

"'It's troubling to see a governmental organization dedicated to the security of our country promoting culturally and religiously insensitive ideas,' said William Youmans, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Santa Clara. 'It's very possible to combat terrorism without offending the cultural values of a major world religion.'"

Oh dear God. We are surely doomed to fail if idiots like this get their way. I wonder if the same people have any problems with anything aljazeera does? Maybe Willy would be happier if we just tried to hold hands and hug the enemy?

I don't know what's worse:
that this bonehead got hired in the first place, or that he wasn't promptly sent to the gulag.

My favorite quote:
''Everybody wants to label all Arabics terrorists just because a couple of people messed up."

A couple of people MESSED UP? What planet are you living on, moron? Which couple of people are you referring to? The "couple" of people that killed 3,000 people on 9/11? Or maybe the "couple" of people that blew up the Cole? Or, maybe he's talking about the "couple" of people that just blew up a bunch of kids and killed one US serviceman in Iraq? I could go on for days.

What a total punkass kid.

Report cites 'degrading' Guantanamo treatment

Let's see, the worst of the gulag treatment the poor innocent little muslim terrorists are getting in Gitmo:
One fellow "was forced by interrogators in late 2002 to wear a bra and had women's thong underwear placed on his head."

But, oh, it gets so much worse!!!

"U.S. interrogators also told him he was a homosexual, forced him to dance with a male interrogator, told him his mother and sister were whores, forced him to wear a leash and perform dog tricks, menaced him with a dog and regularly subjected him to interrogations up to 20 hours a day for about two months, the report said."

Yep. That's surely to be compared to Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin. Yessirree.

Compared to what the detainees are doing to their gaurds, this is nada. Considering that they are throwing feces and urine; and are spitting on our troops, I'd think they would consider themselves lucky to be breathing.

We're not Afraid!

They're not. And if you candy-ass terrorist want to have really good time, bring your chicken-shit tactics to our turf.

Get ready to rumble. You want to go to paradise? Fine. I'll be happy to arrange the appointment.

Al-Qaida nukes already in U.S.

If this doesn't scare the crap out of you, I don't know what will.
The plans for the devastating nuclear attack on the U.S. have been under development for more than a decade. It is designed as a final deadly blow of defeat to the U.S., which is seen by al-Qaida and its allies as "the Great Satan."

But the most disturbing news is that high level U.S. officials now believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima"

The future plan, according to captured al-Qaida agents and documents, suggests the attacks will take place simultaneously in major cities throughout the country – including New York, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.

"Terrorists have carte blanche to carry practically anything they want across our national line at this time," he said. "As ordinary citizens have warned this government for years, the only surprising part about the new information reported here is that nothing apocalyptic from Mexican-border weapons trafficking has yet happened.
Whether it's true or not, President Bush needs to shut our borders and start taking our security more serious. We need to stop worrying if we are going to hurt somebody's feelings because we are racially profiling towel heads, and stop the flood of illegals over our borders. The Patriot Act has done a great job, but we need to work harder to keep the bastards out and send the ones that are here back to where they belong.

Corpse Falls Into Traffic in Texas

'The driver of the truck was not aware that he had lost the body,' Dallas police Lt. Rick Andrews said. 'He saw the open door. He stopped and looked. He turned around, went back and retraced his steps and found the body.'
Since when is the back of a pickup truck a proper method of transport for bodies? I mean, it is Texas, but dang.

Sharp Rise in Tax Revenue to Pare U.S. Deficit

Good news for America means bad news for the Left.
...an unexpected leap in tax revenue is about to shrink the federal budget deficit this year, by nearly $100 billion.
The big surprise has been in tax revenue, which is running nearly 15 percent higher than in 2004. Corporate tax revenue has soared about 40 percent, after languishing for four years, and individual tax revenue is up as well.

FOXNews.com - Views - ifeminists - The Right to Self-Defense

FOXNews.com - Views - ifeminists - The Right to Self-Defense

Very interesting read. Also a very confusing court opinion. "The police have no obligation to protect individuals who, therefore, should defend themselves."

So what this is saying is that we are all responsible for protecting ourselves and our families, but individual states are limited our ability by making gun ownership and carry unlawful. What? So the Police have no obligation to help you, but then the state gets to deny or restrict your access to a means for you to protect yourself. Seems like playing both sides of the fence to me.

Also worth noting, the author is a woman and from, are you ready for this, The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Which still has some very strict gun ownership laws. Somehow I'm thinking that this article won't get much recognition. But the message is clear, protect yourself and your family and don't rely on the police.

Never let the facts get in the way of making a good decision.

There's one definition for BB guns: dangerous

Hey, kid - you'll shoot yer eye out!

Seriously - how long have BB guns been around? They're a time-honored tradition. I've told the tale of my misspent youth, where we had BB gun wars. One of my friends still carries a BB in his side (with pride, I might add). We're raising a nation of sissies, and these people up north are trying to spoil it for everyone.
These guns need to be regulated because they are not toys and they are dangerous. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requires warnings on the guns and recommended restriction labels for the more powerful ones.
Grow a set, people. It's a toy. What's lacking is supervision.

Hayden Gets His First MotoGP Win at the USGP!

I felt compelled to post this even if Dan and I are the only ones interested in it.
In 1989, I was just starting out roadracing motorcycles. I had no prior racing experience, and I started when a lot of people my age start thinking about hanging up the helmet. There was a family from Owensboro, Ky. that showed up at the track to race. Earl, the father is the nicest guy you could meet. His sons were very well mannered and polite kids. They had been flat track racing since age 5. They were being groomed to be World Champions. It was rumored that Earl had a forged birth certificate for Nicky, and now that we know he was born in 1981, we know he was actaully an eight year old, 4 years away from being the youngest you can be considered to get a provisional race licence. In 1989 we were racing YSR 50's. These are mini roadrace motorcycles. Nicky's feet couldn't touch the ground. He had to start at the back of the grid while Earl held the bike up and when he came into the pits, they had to be there to catch him. In 1990 we were at the YSR National Championships. I was unable to be there until Saturday and wasn't able to qualify so I let my good friend Damon Harvey take my Superbike and race it. Armed with the fasted YSR on the planet he won the Expert Class National Championship. It was tough being a spectator, but I enjoyed watching and was able to get a lot of video. I was taping Nicky and Tommy and asked Nicky what his goal for the future was. He said "I'm gonna be World Champion". I didn't think it was cute, or funny. I just thought that with that mindset and the fact Earl would do everything he could to get him the opportunity for a chance to compete for it, he just might do it.
He graduated to bigger bikes and ran the "D" Superbike class on a street version of the TZ250, a TZ-R. Then after making his climb up the ladder landed a ride on the Factory Honda AMA 750 Superbike. He won big including the Daytona 200. He then was promoted to the factory Honda MotoGP Team. This is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. He won his first MotoGP race this weekend at the USGP at Laguna Seca. He got the hole shot and led every lap of the race. After the race, he stopped and got an American Flag then and made a victory lap. Then he picked up Earl and made another one. I can't tell you how proud I am for him and his family. Someone once wrote that the best thing about winning is finding out you can. Now that he has won at the highest level and beat Valentino Rossi, who is arguably the best ever, his next step is contending for the World Championship. I'm betting he get one before his career is over. Congratulations Nicky.

Liberalism today

Was listening to Hannity while washing the car today. Sean had a liberal author, Juliana _________, who just about made me want to jump through the radio waves and just choke her to death. Among other topics:

1. The chickens have come home to roost, as the United States is now getting paid back for 200 years of repression - against the American Indians and slaves; therefore, we deserve whatever the terrorists throw at us
2. American is not a "good" country - Hannity asked this lady the question "is America a good country?" Her silence was overwhelming
3. America is not fighting a just war
4. Bush is evil and out of control

There was more, but frankly I was so pissed off after listening to this buffoon speak that I was losing my ability to think rationally. I do not know how people like this can even wake up and get out of bed each morning in the United States of America and look at the world in the distorted way they do.

America (and the west in general) is not just fighting a war against the islamofascists. We are also fighting a fifth column that is working very hard to destroy us from within. I have no doubts that without the blogosphere and talk radio that we would indeed be back home with our tail between our legs already.

It makes me wonder what would have happened in WWII during battles like at the Bulge where 80,000 Americans were killed, wounded, or captured all in a matter of a few months. The Washington Post, the NYT and Dan Rather would have been running for cover, and the sky would have been falling indeed.

I still would like very much to smash this stupid woman's face in, but I'm getting over it.

Illegal aliens getting home loans

This is absolutely 100% insane. We are now giving home loans to known illegal aliens, "regardless of customers’ immigration status." All from our very own FDIC.

The Big Lie of the Assault Weapons Ban

The Big Lie of the Assault Weapons Ban

Hard to believe the LA Times would print something from John Lott, but here it is. And I'm sure Sarah Brady's head almost exploded when she read it. To think, violent crimes went down after the assault weapon ban ended. Read that again, crime went down.

It's a shame they couldn't put this much effort into something usefully, like actually arresting, convicting and incarcerating criminals. Just imagine the impact the Brady Bunch would have had on crime if it actually focused on CRIME, and not demonize guns.

Catfish's Cigar rating #1

As a public service, I'm going to start posting my own rankings of some quality cigars. First, the rules, such as they are:
1. Cigars for these tests will not cost more than ~ $10. Good enough for a great smoke, but affordable enough for us normal blokes to enjoy on a frequent basis.
2. The ratings will be on a * scale. 1* being the worst, and 5* being the best.
3. For reference, the only cigar I can rate at a 5* now is the Ashton #40.

Why cigars? Well, that's easy. Cigars smell and taste good, and more importantly, you can use a particular cigar to remember a good time with good friends and family. My grandfather smoked the occasional cigar, and I can't smoke a good cigar today without remembering what a great man my grandfather was, or the things we would do like go bass fishin', or working in the kitchen of his restaurant after closing time.
I've also had many a good smoke after a hard fought shooting match with my friends - a good smoke after a match is indeed something pleasant to look forward to, and something pleasant to remember.

Plus, they seem to have the ability to totally piss off liberals, and that all by itself would make it priceless.

So, straight to the first review:

Romeo and Julieta Maduro Reserve
Price - about $6
Size - robusto, maybe 36 gauge or so
Smoke time - 1.25 hours, down past the paper. I needed a roach to finish it off. Had I not been in a little bit of a hurry, this smoke would easily have lasted an hour and a half or more.
Rating - 4.5 * I'll be smoking another one, this was a great smoke. I really enjoyed the strong maduro flavor, and the ability to smoke her all the way down to the nub ranks pretty high in my book. The smoke drew easily, and was perfectly firm - not too hard, not too soft.

West Palm Beach gun owners trade in firearms at gun buyback

The futility and naivete of gun buyback programs never cease to amaze and amuse me. I'm at a loss as to who benefits from these things, save for the elderly who can make a few bucks from an old wall-hanger rifle. The police must know that they're not taking criminal's guns, but they keep facilitating these things, then look important by "cataloging and destroying" these dangerous antiques. City politicians assuage their own guilt for not really knowing what to do by doing something utterly ineffective. It's politics at its finest.
Overall, police collected 10 assault rifles, including one the owner said he found in the bushes. Assault weapons were worth $200; handguns were $100 and $75 for rifles and shotguns. There were no questions asked.
200 bucks for an assault weapon. I paid closer to $1000 for mine. Great plan, West Palm Beach. America should follow your model of ineffective, inefficient government.
